Job Description
The Warehouse Lead Operator serves as the designated Step-Up Supervisor for the Houston site, providing leadership and supervisory support in the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor. This hands-on role supports shipping, receiving, packaging, maintenance, and warehouse operations while providing daily direction to Warehouse Operators. Responsibilities include forklift and narrow aisle lift operation, bulk and super sack handling, tank loading, and yard organization to ensure safe and efficient operations.
## Responsibilities
- Lead operator responsibilities within assigned and qualified areas, including leadership across all site functions.
- Shift leadership and decision-making in support of site safety, quality, and production objectives.
- Continuous improvement activities and completion of tasks assigned to Operators.
- Performance feedback provided continuously to ensure targets are being met.
- Performance consistency and accountability regarding performance dialogues and standardized procedures.
- Site Leadership feedback provided openly and honestly to help set the direction of site activities and performance.
- Improvement opportunity identification and communication to support staff and site operations.
- EHS incident reporting and documentation using the appropriate system.
- Participation and leadership in daily safety meetings and Tier meetings as assigned.
- Participation in site EHS programs, including job audit programs, 5S, and related initiatives.
- Operator activity direction during incidents and site emergencies.
- Supervisor and Manager collaboration on investigations and completion of findings by assigned deadlines.
- Site compliance support for agency requirements, audits, and compliance with OSHA, EHSS, ISO, and RCMS standards.
- Order packet creation and distribution for the operations team, including bookings, marks, GHS labeling, product labeling, and management of site information centers.
Required Qualifications
- Position requires at least 3 years front line leadership experience and/or 5 years operations experience including warehouse and distribution operations.
- Must have forklift experience as well as willing to become yard mule certified.
- Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications, problem-solving and data interpretation skills.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions oral and written.
- Demonstrated ability to work with all employees through active listening skills, open feedback, maintained confidentiality, respect, and trust.
Physical Requirements and Environment
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
- Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
