Department Summary

RAVN Aerospace's Maintenance Department supports the safety, airworthiness, reliability, and operational readiness of the company's aircraft fleet. The department performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, repairs, component servicing, and specialized maintenance activities in accordance with company procedures, technical data, quality requirements, and applicable aviation and defense standards.

Position Summary

The Egress Technician performs inspection, maintenance, repair, overhaul, troubleshooting, and compliance activities for aircraft egress systems, including ejection seats, escape mechanisms, and associated life-support components. This position plays a critical role in protecting aviation personnel and maintaining aircraft operational readiness by ensuring egress systems remain serviceable, properly documented, and compliant with applicable technical, safety, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on egress experience, strong MK-10 Ejection Seat expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a high-tempo aviation maintenance environment.

Key Responsibilities

Egress System Maintenance and Inspection

- Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance, repair, servicing, and overhaul of aircraft egress systems, including ejection seats, escape mechanisms, and associated life-support components.
- Inspect egress-system assemblies and components for condition, serviceability, damage, wear, corrosion, expiration limits, proper installation, and compliance with applicable technical data.
- Perform removal, installation, adjustment, functional checks, and component replacement in accordance with approved maintenance procedures and technical publications.
- Develop and follow maintenance schedules to ensure egress equipment remains in optimal working condition and required inspections and servicing are completed on time.
- Identify and report discrepancies that could affect aircraft safety, airworthiness, mission readiness, or personnel safety.

MK-10 Ejection Seat Maintenance

- Perform inspections, routine maintenance, servicing, repairs, and overhauls on MK-10 Ejection Seats in accordance with applicable technical data and safety requirements.
- Troubleshoot MK-10 Ejection Seat discrepancies and determine appropriate corrective actions within authorized maintenance capabilities.
- Ensure time-controlled, life-limited, serialized, and safety-critical components are properly tracked, inspected, replaced, and documented.
- Verify completed MK-10 maintenance meets required configuration, documentation, quality, and return-to-service standards.

Troubleshooting, Quality, and Compliance

- Troubleshoot and resolve egress-system malfunctions and discrepancies while minimizing aircraft downtime and maintaining required safety standards.
- Conduct quality checks and support audits to verify maintenance activities comply with company procedures, technical publications, contractual requirements, and applicable safety and regulatory standards.
- Follow all applicable explosive-device, pyrotechnic, hazardous-material, tool-control, foreign-object-damage, PPE, and maintenance safety procedures.
- Stay informed of technical-order revisions, service bulletins, regulatory changes, industry advancements, and best practices related to aircraft egress systems.
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing policies, procedures, work instructions, and process improvements related to aircraft egress maintenance.

Documentation and Records

- Maintain accurate and complete records of inspections, repairs, servicing, overhauls, modifications, component replacements, discrepancies, and corrective actions.
- Ensure maintenance documentation accurately reflects aircraft and component status, serial numbers, life limits, inspection intervals, and applicable traceability requirements.
- Protect proprietary, classified, export-controlled, and other sensitive information in accordance with applicable requirements.

Training and Operational Support

- Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance and aviation personnel on proper egress-system operation, maintenance practices, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
- Coordinate with maintenance leadership, quality personnel, flight operations, supply, and other departments to support aircraft availability and mission requirements.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply personnel to identify and source required egress-system parts, components, consumables, tooling, and support equipment.
- Support regulatory agencies, customers, inspectors, and auditors as required during reviews, inspections, and compliance activities.

Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of eight years of experience in aircraft egress-system maintenance.
- A minimum of four years of experience performing inspections, overhauls, and routine maintenance on MK-10 Ejection Seats.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft egress systems, aviation maintenance practices, safety requirements, and applicable technical documentation.
- Hands-on experience inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, servicing, and maintaining egress-system components.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical manuals, maintenance instructions, engineering data, inspection criteria, and safety procedures.
- Strong organizational, recordkeeping, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance tracking or comparable aviation maintenance systems.

Desired Experience/Skills

- Five or more years of supervisory or leadership experience in aircraft egress-system maintenance.
- Previous military, defense-contractor, or tactical aviation maintenance experience.
- Experience supporting high-performance or military aircraft egress systems.
- Experience training or mentoring maintenance personnel on egress-system procedures and safety requirements.
- Familiarity with quality-assurance programs, maintenance audits, technical-order compliance, and controlled-component tracking.

Physical Demands

- Regular standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and working in and around aircraft, hangars, maintenance areas, and operational environments.
- Ability to lift, carry, position, remove, and install aircraft components, tools, and equipment within applicable safety and team-lifting requirements.
- Ability to work in confined or restricted aircraft areas and perform detailed hands-on maintenance for extended periods.
- Possible exposure to aircraft noise, outdoor weather, oils, fuels, solvents, fumes, pyrotechnic or explosive-device hazards, and other typical aviation maintenance conditions; required PPE and safety equipment must be used.
- Periodic overtime, schedule adjustments, travel, or after-hours support may be required based on operational and aircraft-maintenance needs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Work Authorization and Clearance Requirements

- U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
- Active Secret Clearance is required.
- Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States and complete an I-9 Form.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable airport credentials, site-access credentials, and other program-specific access requirements.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and meet company driving requirements.
