With a focus on Hollow Core Fiber (HCF) and cable, Azure Fiber is preparing for exponential growth driven by continued Cloud success and new Artificial Intelligence (AI) demands, ensuring that every Customer can rely on our infrastructure for high-quality, secure, and reliable connectivity to all Microsoft services.</p><p> </p><p>As part of this exciting growth, the Azure Fiber team in Romsey is hiring five people to join the team. We are seeking dynamic candidates with energy and a passion for innovation. You will be working on fabrication and test processes across the entire value stream for radically novel optical fibers, including glass preform manufacture, optical fiber drawing, and associated test processes.</p><p> </p><p>This role requires the flexibility to work a shift pattern of 07:00-15:00/15:00-23:00 on a weekly rotational basis.<br><br></p><p>Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.</p><br><br><b>Responsibilities</b><br><ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>Receiving guidance from an engineer, the Fibre Manufacturing manager, or other technicians to determine which process tasks to perform, and achieving the agreed levels of operational throughput per shift.</li><li>Performing the manufacturing processes to the defined specification with guidance from an engineer, the Fibre Manufacturing manager, or other technicians.</li><li>Assisting in validating that manufacturing equipment is operating within expected parameters with guidance from an engineer, the Fibre Manufacturing manager, or other technicians.</li><li>Performing manufacturing quality inspections to document process outcomes with guidance from an engineer, the Fibre Manufacturing manager, or other technicians.</li><li>Confirming optical fiber geometries by taking images and comparing readings against established test cases with guidance from an engineer, the Fibre Manufacturing manager, or other technicians.</li><li>Recording manufacturing data and assisting with basic analyses to identify bugs, defects, or failure rates with guidance from an engineer, production manager, or other technicians.</li><li>Documenting daily progress and recording manufacturing throughput with links to spreadsheets, photos, and/or other supporting documents with guidance from an engineer, the Fibre Manufacturing manager, or other technicians. </li></ul><br><br><b>Qualifications</b><br><p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p><ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>Formal training in a technical trade (e.g., machinist, electrician)<ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>OR equivalent experience.</li></ul></li></ul><p>Other Requirements:</p><ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.</li><li>These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: <ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.</li></ul></li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>Formal training in a technical trade (e.g., machinist, electrician) AND hands on technical experience<ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>OR equivalent experience.</li></ul></li></ul><p>#azurecorejobs</p> <br><br><p>Lab Technician ATR-B - The typical base pay range for this role across United Kingdom is £ 34,000.00 - £ 57,000.00 per year.
