Job Title: Bilingual Insurance Patient Support Specialist Job Description
This role provides bilingual insurance education and administrative support to patients during their treatment window, helping them understand insurance plan options and complete eligibility paperwork. The position focuses on non-complex, clinic-based tasks that require direct interaction with patients in both English and Spanish, ensuring they receive clear guidance and support during open enrollment periods.
Responsibilities
- Meet with identified patients in clinic settings during their treatment window to provide insurance education and patient support in both English and Spanish.
- Review Medicare Advantage insurance plan options with patients using educational handouts and explain key information in a clear and understandable manner.
- Facilitate connections between patients and independent insurance brokers to support enrollment in appropriate insurance plans.
- Support patients with health insurance exchange eligibility paperwork by reviewing forms, answering questions, and assisting with document completion.
- Perform administrative tasks related to insurance coordination that are non-complex but require accuracy, attention to detail, and direct patient interaction.
- Organize, manage, and maintain patient paperwork to ensure all insurance-related documents are properly completed and filed.
- Capture effective notes and log patient engagement activities in a clear and organized manner for reporting and follow-up purposes.
- Participate in daily virtual huddles with the supervisor and team to review activities, align on priorities, and discuss patient support needs.
- Provide daily reporting on patient contacts and outcomes, ensuring that all interactions and results are documented accurately.
- Travel between different clinics within the assigned geography to meet patients and provide bilingual insurance support on-site.
- Communicate comfortably and professionally with patients, clinic staff, and insurance brokers in a healthcare environment.
- Perform bilingual translation and interpretation for Spanish-speaking patients regarding insurance coverage, verification, and premium support.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both languages.
- Ability to travel between different clinics within an assigned geographic area, using personal vehicle as needed.
- Comfort interacting directly with patients in a healthcare clinic setting and discussing insurance-related topics.
- Strong organizational skills to manage paperwork, forms, and documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to capture effective notes and log patient engagement activities in a structured and detailed manner.
- Willingness to participate in daily virtual huddles with the supervisor and team and to provide daily patient contact reporting and results.
- Customer service mindset with the ability to provide supportive, patient-centered assistance.
- Basic understanding of health insurance concepts, including coverage, verification, and plan options.
- Administrative support skills, including handling non-complex insurance coordination tasks.
- Ability to perform bilingual translation and interpretation for Spanish-speaking patients in a clinical environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in insurance coordination, insurance verification, or insurance coverage support is beneficial.
- Background in healthcare or working in a clinic setting is helpful for understanding patient needs and workflows.
- Prior experience in customer service or patient support roles is advantageous.
- Familiarity with health insurance exchange processes and premium support programs is preferred.
- Comfort using basic technology tools for virtual meetings and reporting.
Work Environment
This position is based in a healthcare clinic setting, where you will work directly with patients and staff to provide bilingual insurance support and translation services for Spanish-speaking patients. You will regularly travel to nearby clinics within your assigned geography using your own vehicle, with mileage reimbursed from your home or base clinic. The work involves face-to-face interactions in treatment areas and administrative spaces, handling paperwork, and participating in daily virtual huddles with the team. The environment is patient-focused, collaborative, and fast-paced, requiring professional attire appropriate for a clinical setting and consistent, clear communication in both English and Spanish.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Dallas, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
