JOB SUMMARY:
The Veterinary Services LVT supports the operations of the Clemson Veterinary Services, including the CVM Community Clinic and/or Ambulatory Services. This position ensures the smooth and efficient functioning of day-to-day operations across both service areas, performs licensed veterinary technician duties in clinic and/or ambulatory settings, and provides clinical and operational support to the team of veterinary professionals. The position works collaboratively with veterinarians, veterinary students, staff, and clients to support high-quality patient care, effective service delivery, and a positive learning and client experience.
JOB DUTIES:
50% - Technical Support:
Support daily operations of the Clemson CVM Community Clinic and/or Ambulatory Vet Services, ensuring efficient workflow, quality patient care, and excellent customer service.
Perform licensed veterinary technician duties, including animal restraint, patient care, diagnostics, medical procedures, and emergency support under veterinarian direction.
Accompany veterinarians on ambulatory calls and provide technical support during service calls and/or Community Clinic activities.
Participate in rotating after-hours coverage and respond to urgent or emergency patient care needs.
Support veterinary student education through orientation, course instruction, and hands-on training related to veterinary technician practices.
Complete accurate and timely EMR data entry for clinic appointments and ambulatory services.
Monitor and maintain medications, supplies, equipment, and inventory, communicating needs to supervisors or inventory management.
Coordinate with the veterinary team on scheduling, resources, client inquiries, urgent requests, and emergencies.
Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient clinical environment.

25% - Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Maintain high standards of patient care and service quality, identifying and recommending improvements.
Implement and monitor clinical, operational, safety, and quality protocols to ensure regulatory and institutional compliance.
Assist with licensing, accreditation, documentation, and record-keeping requirements.
Support financial and administrative activities, including revenue, expenses, budgets, and forecasting.
Identify and communicate operational, compliance, quality, or financial concerns and support corrective actions and continuous improvement.

25% - Client Relations:
Build and maintain professional relationships with clients across Community Clinic and/or Ambulatory Vet Services.
Respond to client questions, concerns, and service needs promptly and professionally.
Support veterinarians with client education regarding patient care, treatment, and follow-up.
Assist with client education programs, community outreach, and veterinary student learning opportunities.
Monitor client satisfaction and identify opportunities to improve the client experience.
Escalate complex or unresolved client concerns to the supervisor or veterinarian as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in animal husbandry, agriculture or a related field and experience in agricultural research or animal care that is directly related to the area of employment. Work experience in animal care or agricultural research may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
At least 2 years of related experience, such as in large animal ambulatory services area and/or in a clinical setting working with large animals.
Active SC Licensed Veterinary Technician or eligibility to gain licensure.

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL:
Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
