Job Title: Civil Superintendent / Site Manager Job Description
This role oversees daily field operations for a large, multiyear healthcare campus site improvement project with a strong focus on specialty concrete and complex civil site features. The Civil Superintendent / Site Manager steps into an active project during a technically demanding phase and leads the safe, highquality delivery of decorative concrete, custom hardscapes, plazas, sidewalks, curbs, roadway infrastructure, and other ownerfacing improvements. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to a prestigious, largescale campus project and potential longterm employment as part of a civil team upon successful completion.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily civil construction activities for assigned scopes, with primary focus on specialty concrete, decorative concrete, plazas, hardscape installations, sidewalks, curbs, roadway infrastructure, and other technically complex site improvements.
- Review and interpret complex civil plans, details, elevations, sections, and specifications to ensure work is installed accurately and in accordance with design requirements.
- Coordinate information across multiple drawing sheets to resolve field questions and provide clear direction for construction activities.
- Coordinate multiple subcontractors on site and interface effectively with owner representatives, consultants, and contractors working on adjacent campus projects.
- Drive schedule performance by providing accurate field updates for 6week lookahead schedules and proactively identifying sequencing challenges and constraints.
- Support the internal scheduling team by supplying timely schedule and progress updates for integration into Primavera P6 (managed by others).
- Partner with the Safety Director to enforce OSHA and site safety standards, promoting a safe work environment for all personnel.
- Manage field documentation, including RFIs, daily reports, punch list items, and coordination activities through Procore and other project platforms.
- Maintain professional written and verbal communication with subcontractors, internal project teams, owner representatives, quality consultants, safety personnel, and joint venture partners.
- Monitor work quality and ensure technically complex concrete and civil installations comply with plans, specifications, and overall project requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Superintendent, Project Manager, Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, and client representatives to coordinate work sequencing and resolve issues.
- Identify and resolve field issues related to constructability, civil plan interpretation, sequencing, quality, and subcontractor coordination in a timely and proactive manner.
- Support and enforce project standards, procedures, and best practices for civil construction, concrete work, and site improvements.
- Contribute to a positive site culture by demonstrating strong field leadership, accountability, and commitment to highquality outcomes.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Civil Superintendent, Site Manager, or comparable field leadership role in civil construction.
- Strong experience overseeing complex concrete scopes, including specialty concrete, decorative concrete, site hardscapes, curbs and gutters, sidewalk systems, concrete plazas, and roadway concrete infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and coordinate work from complex civil drawings, including multiple plan sheets, civil details, elevations, and section views.
- Experience working on large commercial, institutional, healthcare, campus, municipal, or heavy civil projects.
- Proven ability to step into an active project and immediately drive field execution, quality, and schedule performance.
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and stakeholders simultaneously in a complex project environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across diverse project teams.
- Proficiency with Procore for field documentation and coordination.
- Comfort using construction technology and field documentation platforms to manage daily activities and reporting.
- Experience leading quality control efforts and ensuring installations align with plans, specifications, and project requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Selfperform concrete experience, particularly with specialty and decorative concrete work.
- Experience managing decorative architectural concrete installations and highdetail finishes.
- Background working on plazas, public spaces, campus environments, or other highvisibility site improvements.
- Experience coordinating directly with owner representatives and thirdparty consultants on design and quality matters.
- OSHA 30 certification (can be obtained after hire).
- CPR and First Aid certifications (can be obtained after hire).
- Familiarity with SafetyAmp software or similar safety management tools.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite for reporting, documentation, and communication.
- Experience using Bluebeam or similar tools for reviewing and marking up drawings.
- Interest in longterm employment opportunities as part of a dedicated civil team after successful project performance.
- Motivation to work on large and prestigious projects within a healthcare campus environment.
- Ability to integrate vehicle or travel-related considerations into overall compensation structure, as any vehicle allowance is assumed into salary.
Work Environment
This role is fully sitebased, working five days per week on the healthcare campus project. Typical workdays range from approximately 8 to 10 hours, reflecting the demands of active field supervision and coordination. The project is scheduled through October 2027, with an initial commitment of about 13 months and potential for longerterm employment for the right candidate as part of the civil team. The environment centers on a large, prestigious healthcare campus project that includes complex civil and concrete scopes, highvisibility public and campus spaces, and coordination with adjacent project teams. All necessary technology and field tools are provided, including Procore and other construction technology platforms, to support efficient documentation, communication, and coordination. The work is performed in an active construction setting that requires consistent onsite presence, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders in a professional, teamoriented atmosphere.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
