STRS Ohio is seeking a Digital Outreach Associate or Digital Outreach Coordinator to join the Executive/ Communications and Public Affairs team.

Compensation (Grade 8N & 9):

Grade 8N : $30.98 - $34.85/ hr.

Grade 9: $67,962 – $81,555

Work Schedule:

8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday (Onsite)

General Summary (Grade 8N & 9):

Under the direction of the Chief Communication Officer, supports the development, maintenance and updating of State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio) websites, online forms, email communications and other digital content. Assists with front-end web development, graphic design, website analytics, accessibility reviews and troubleshooting. Collaborates with Communication and Public Affairs associates to deliver accurate, accessible and effective digital communications.

Summary of Responsibilities (Grade 8N & 9):

- Assist with developing, testing, updating and maintaining organizational websites, forms and web-based applications. (Grade 8N)
- Design, develop, test, implement and maintain organization websites, forms and applications to meet organizational needs. Code sites using semantically correct code including comments (documentation) for other developers. (Grade 9)
- Create and update web content using established HTML, CSS and content-management standards. (Grade 8N)
- Contribute to developing custom forms using “secure coding” on the front end (HTML and jQuery). (Grade 9)
- Support the development, testing and maintenance of HTML email templates for use across major email clients. (Grade 8N)
- Help design, develop, test, implement and maintain organizational HTML email templates based on industry’s best practices that work in all major email clients. Design and update graphics needed for websites and emails. Develop motion graphics and videos as needed. (Grade 9)
- Apply established Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and digital accessibility standards to assigned work. (Grade 8N& 9)

Summary of Qualifications (Grade 8N & 9):

- Bachelor’s degree in web design, digital design, communications or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required. (Grade 8N)
- Bachelor’s degree in web design, digital design, communications or related field required. (Grade 9)
- One to three years of related experience in web development, digital communications, graphic design or a related area preferred.  (Grade 8N)
- Three to five years of experience working in web design/development required. (Grade 9)
- Foundational knowledge of HTML and CSS required. (Grade 8N)
- Proven experience developing HTML emails required. (Grade 9)
- Proficient in front-end web languages including but not limited to HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3 and JavaScript/jQuery. Knowledgeable in AJAX and web data access, storage and display via CSV and XML desired. (Grade 9)
- Familiarity with JavaScript or jQuery, HTML email development and testing, web accessibility principles and practices, and website analytics and reporting tools preferred. (Grade 8N)
- Certifications in HTML, CSS and jQuery front-end web languages preferred. (Grade 9)
