About this role

Overview

The Microsoft Business Operation - Frontier AI Team's mission is to agentify and automate Microsoft's business processes, putting the latest AI capabilities to work inside Microsoft as Customer Zero. We partner directly with business teams to rethink how work gets done - building agents, applications, and automations that reduce manual effort, simplify complexity, and deliver measurable business outcomes.

We are looking for a US-based Senior Technical Program Manager / FDE who can operate as a full-stack AI builder across Power Platform, Microsoft 365, GitHub, Copilot, Copilot Studio, and emerging AI development tools. This is a hands-on builder role for someone who enjoys working directly with business stakeholders, understanding real workflows, challenging assumptions, and rapidly turning ambiguous problems into production-ready solutions.

The candidate brings a learn-it-all mindset, strong technical judgment, product intuition, and the ability to move fluidly from discovery to prototype to deployed solution. This person should be comfortable with AI-assisted development and "vibe coding" - using tools such as GitHub Copilot, GitHub CLI, Copilot, Copilot Studio, and related platforms to accelerate solution development while still owning quality, architecture, reliability, and business impact.

This role is for a product-minded technical builder - someone with a Technical Product Management, Technical Program Management, Forward Deployed Engineering, or full-stack solution-building background who loves using AI tools to turn ideas into working products. The candidate will be comfortable moving from ambiguous business problem to prototype to production launch, owning the solution end to end rather than handing it off after discovery or design.

Success in this role requires both technical depth and product judgment: the ability to understand stakeholder needs, make pragmatic architecture decisions, build quickly, validate with users, operationalize responsibly, and measure whether the solution changes how work gets done.

Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. We foster a culture of growth, innovation, collaboration, respect, integrity, and accountability where everyone can thrive.

Responsibilities

Build end-to-end AI and automation solutions. Design, prototype, build, test, deploy, and iterate solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio, Dataverse, Microsoft 365 extensibility, GitHub Copilot, GitHub CLI, Azure AI capabilities, APIs, connectors, and code where needed.

Work directly with business teams. Partner with stakeholders to understand workflows, pain points, operational constraints, and success measures. Translate ambiguous business needs into clear solution designs, delivery plans, and working products.

Reimagine business processes. Go beyond automating existing steps. Identify opportunities to simplify, redesign, agentify, or eliminate work using AI, automation, and modern application patterns.

Prototype quickly and responsibly. Use AI-assisted development tools and rapid experimentation to test ideas, validate feasibility, and demonstrate value early, while maintaining a path to secure, reliable, and maintainable production solutions.

Deliver production impact. Take solutions from concept through deployment, adoption, support readiness, and iteration. Balance speed with quality, reliability, ownership, and lifecycle management.

Extend low-code with full-stack engineering. Build integrations, APIs, custom connectors, scripts, services, UI components, or backend logic using technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, C#, GitHub, Azure, and Microsoft Graph when low-code alone is insufficient.

Build agents and AI-powered workflows. Create AI agents and copilots that are grounded in business data, connected to tools and actions, evaluated for quality, and designed with appropriate human-in-the-loop controls.

Measure business outcomes. Define success with stakeholders and track adoption, cycle-time reduction, manual effort avoided, quality improvements, user satisfaction, and time to value.

Build responsibly and for reuse. Apply security, privacy, responsible AI, access controls, data-loss prevention, testing, monitoring, and application lifecycle management. Create reusable agents, components, templates, and patterns that raise the capability of the broader team.

Contribute to a learn-it-all culture. Experiment with emerging AI tools, share demos, document patterns, mentor peers through technical examples, and help the team continuously improve how it builds.

Operate as part of a global team. Collaborate across time zones with business leaders, principal-level technical leaders, platform teams, engineering partners, and operational owners to manage dependencies and deliver cohesive solutions.

Embody our culture and values

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.

2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Preferred Qualifications

Background as a Technical Product Manager, Technical Program Manager, Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Architect, product-minded engineer, or similar business-embedded technical role.

Passion for AI-assisted development and vibe coding, with demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous ideas into working prototypes and carry them through to product launch, adoption, and iteration.

Applied generative AI experience, including grounding, retrieval-augmented generation, agent orchestration, evaluation, prompt design, and human-in-the-loop workflows.

Familiarity with Azure AI services, Microsoft Graph, Microsoft 365 extensibility, Teams apps, SharePoint, and enterprise data integration patterns.

Experience building full-stack internal tools, workflow applications, dashboards, agents, or automations for enterprise users.

Experience redesigning end-to-end business processes and measuring operational improvements.

Evidence of technical thought leadership through reusable solutions, demos, communities of practice, internal accelerators, or shared engineering patterns.

Strong ability to learn new tools quickly and apply them pragmatically to real business problems.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year.
