About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Tissue Technician to join a fast-paced pathology laboratory team. In this role, you will be responsible for the accessioning, grossing, processing, documentation, and preparation of biopsy and small tissue specimens for diagnostic testing. This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced Pathologist Assistants while contributing to the accurate and timely processing of patient specimens. Schedule: Early start between 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM , with the workday typically ending around 2:00 PM .

Key Responsibilities
- Accession, prepare, and process biopsy and small tissue specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
- Gross a variety of specimen types, including: Gastrointestinal (GI)
- Dermatology
- Gynecologic (GYN)
- Bone marrow
- Clots and cores
- Gallbladder specimens
- Prepare, package, and coordinate specimen transport to off-site facilities for further processing.
- Maintain accurate specimen records, documentation, and filing systems to ensure traceability and compliance.
- Organize, label, store, and manage pathology slides and related materials.
- Work efficiently in a high-volume pathology environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Follow laboratory safety practices and quality standards at all times.
- Collaborate closely with Pathologist Assistants and laboratory personnel to support daily workflow and specimen processing activities.
- Provide occasional support to additional laboratory locations as business needs require.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Laboratory Science, or a related scientific discipline; or equivalent education and training.
- Minimum of 60 semester hours in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, or related life sciences.
- Experience grossing tissue specimens in a clinical pathology or histology laboratory setting.
- Knowledge of tissue processing, specimen handling, and pathology laboratory procedures.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to work comfortably with human tissue specimens in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2+ years of tissue grossing experience.
- Experience working with a diverse range of biopsy and small tissue specimens.
- Experience performing frozen sections.
- Familiarity with pathology dictation and transcription software, such as M*Modal or Dragon .
- Experience using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), with CoPath preferred.
- Understanding of histology techniques and specimen preparation workflows.
- Previous experience in a regulated clinical laboratory environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $34.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
