Job Purpose

Manage, direct and evaluate the organization’s programs/policies related to recruitment, training/development, employee turnover/retention, performance management and safety compliance. Comply with all regulating agencies and other applicable standards in development of programs/policies. Responsible for exercising good judgement within defined policies/practices. Initiate/use proper methods/techniques for problem investigation/resolution. Strong knowledge required in state and federal labor law, and general human resources concepts; strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written). Ability to respond and be persuasive with all levels of the organization in order to initiate/lead change. Participate in Senior Management meetings weekly, or as scheduled.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Develop and administer various human resources/safety plans and procedures for EnerSys/Warrensburg personnel

- Plan, organize and control all activities of the human resources/safety department. Develop department goals, objectives and HRIS systems. Rely on experience and judgement to plan and attain set goals/objectives.

- Develop and maintain Affirmative Action Plans, file annual EEO-1 Report, VETS-100 Report, maintain all human resources records to comply with all agency guidelines.

- Plan and assist with recruitment for all exempt/non-exempt and temporary personnel. Assist with new employee orientation; monitor employee relation counseling/ discipline, exit interviewing and employment advertising.

- Implement/update annually company compensation program; maintain and update job descriptions as necessary; conduct annual wage surveys and update as necessary.

- Perform functions that will establish and maintain satisfactory employee/management relations. Maintain a union free workplace.

- Develop and maintain confidential employee files, information, records and reports. Ensure that policies concerning confidentially are followed. Participate in management staff meeting and attend other meetings as scheduled.

- Must be knowledgeable and proficient in the use of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).

- Propose, develop and maintain company policies/procedures; maintain information on distribution of policies and procedures to employees.

- Responsible for benefit administration to include claim resolution, change reporting, and invoice approval.

- Complete annual open benefit enrollment with all location employees. Arrange for distribution of materials regarding benefits from providers, and assist with communicating benefit changes. Process annual change paperwork.

- Evaluate reports, decisions and results of human resources work group in relation to established goals and objectives. Implement new approaches, procedures to effect continual improvement in overall efficiency of work group and the services provided.

- Log/track all applications with disposition, to comply with affirmative action guidelines.

- Prepare/manage budget for human resources.

- Assist in maintaining company organization charts and master employee list.

- Coordinate risk management program. Investigate all injuries/incidents/accidents; prepare reports for insurance carrier and other reporting agencies.

- Assist with coordination of onsite safety program and safety team.

- Prepare/administer employee separation notices and related documentation; conduct exit interviews to determine reasons for separation/turnover.

- Represent company in related unemployment/workers’ compensation hearings and investigations.

- Must be familiar with internet models and technologies.

Contract with outside providers to provide employee services.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree with five (5) years Human Resources work experience: or, Master’s Degree in Human Resources with three (3) years Human Resources work experience; or, Ten years experience in Human Resources Management; or, any appropriate combination of education and Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, compliance guidelines, financial reports and other legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Must be able to write and deliver speeches, write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format set by the company. Ability to present information to the management team, public groups, and/or board of directors.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be able to compute rate, ratio and percent; with the ability to develop and interpret graphs used for presentations or reports.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions supplied in both written and verbal format.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), ABRA and HRizon HRIS System.
