About this role

Summary of Position

As part of the Local Outreach team, the Embrace Ministry Director leads Embrace-The Summit Church’s foster, adoption, and family support ministry by executing strategy and developing leaders, partnerships and resources that equip the church to care for vulnerable children and provide ongoing support to foster, adoptive, kinship, and special needs families.

Qualifications and Requirements

- Commitment to Gospel-centered ministry and a passion for serving vulnerable children and foster, adoptive, kinship, and special needs families.

- Ministry leadership or personal experience in foster care and adoption.

- Demonstrated ability to listen well, provide wise and compassionate care, and connect families with appropriate professional support.

- Experience recruiting, coaching, and empowering lay leaders and volunteer teams.

- Demonstrated ability to develop strategy, establish goals and priorities, and lead initiatives from planning through execution.

- Strong organizational and project management skills, including developing effective systems, managing multiple initiatives, and evaluating ministry effectiveness.

- Strong relational and communication skills with experience building partnerships with churches, agencies, nonprofits, government organizations, and community partners.

- A member of The Summit Church or willing and able to become a member

Responsibilities

- Strategy and Leadership

Provide overall leadership and ownership for Embrace by developing and executing a church-wide strategy to serve vulnerable children and support foster, adoptive, kinship, and special needs families.

- Establish measurable ministry goals, track effectiveness, and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.

- Develop leaders, resources, and systems that allow Embrace to grow sustainably across Summit campuses.

- Campus and Family Support

Develop and equip staff, lay leaders, and volunteers to effectively carry out the Embrace strategy across campuses.

- Equip campus staff and leaders to care for vulnerable children and support foster, adoptive, kinship, and special needs families by mobilizing members to provide practical wraparound care.

- Partner with campus pastors and elders to support families

- Connect families with trusted counseling, agency, respite, and community resources.

- Build pathways that help foster, adoptive, kinship, and special needs families become known, connected, and supported within their campus community.

- Equipping and Events

Lead Embrace equip classes, annual conference, retreats, leader gatherings, and other family-support events.

- Develop resources and training for families, volunteers, and ministry leaders.

- Oversee Recharge Respite Nights at existing campuses and lead expansion to additional campuses as needed. Recruit, coach, and develop Recharge lay directors and volunteer teams.

- Community Partnerships

Serve as The Summit Church’s primary liaison with foster care, adoption, child welfare, special needs, nonprofit, government, and community organizations.

- Develop strategic partnerships that connect Summit families with trusted resources and mobilize members to meaningfully serve vulnerable children and families.

Churchwide Events

This is a full-time role with an expected workload of 40 hours per week. As one church in many locations, all staff are expected to serve at church-wide events such as Good Friday, Easter, church-wide prayer meetings, Christmas Services. Serving expectations will be communicated in advance of each event.
