About this role

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and commercially focused Senior Trade Consultant to join our Trade team and help drive the growth of our business across the New York market.

Based in New York, you will be responsible for building, developing and growing a high-value Trade customer base , with a strong focus on proactive sales, new business development and revenue growth.

This role is designed for an experienced Trade professional who is ready to take greater ownership of commercial performance and customer development, while remaining an individual contributor. You will be responsible for developing new customer opportunities of high net worth businesses, managing a portfolio of existing Trade clients, building relationships across the New York design and hospitality industry, and identifying larger residential and commercial project opportunities.

Working closely with the US Trade Manager and wider Trade team, you will provide an elevated level of service to customers while proactively identifying opportunities to increase sales, customer engagement and retention.

This is a client-facing 360 role with a high degree of autonomy , based across our DUMBO Studio and out in the field. The role will encompass sales, business development, relationship management, market development and client service responsibilities.

Main Duties

Sales & Business Development

- Own and deliver against agreed individual sales and revenue targets with higher contribution that junior members

- Proactively identify, prospect and convert new Trade customers within the New York market.

- Own and develop a portfolio of Trade customers, with a particular focus on high-value and growth-potential accounts.

- Build strong, long-term relationships with key customers and become a trusted point of contact.

- Provide expertise, guidance and an elevated service to clients looking to use Soho Home for interior design projects, including guidance on pricing, lead times and product availability.

- Identify high-potential customers and larger residential, hospitality and commercial projects.

- In the field. This role requires a minimum of 1 -2 days a week offsite conducting client meetings, presentations and discovery calls to understand customer needs and identify sales opportunities.

- Proactively follow up with prospects and existing customers to drive conversion, repeat purchasing and increased spend.

- Identify opportunities to increase customer value through additional product categories, projects and services.

- Support customer retention through proactive relationship management and regular engagement.

Market Development

- Develop a strong understanding of the New York design, interior design, hospitality and commercial landscape.

- Build relationships with key industry professionals and identify opportunities to increase Soho Home's presence within the New York design community.

- Attend relevant industry events, trade shows, showroom events and networking functions.

- Represent Soho Home professionally at external events and industry meetings.

- Identify potential partnerships, events and networking opportunities that could support Trade acquisition and revenue growth.

- Share customer, competitor and market insight with the US Trade Manager to support wider market strategy.

- Collaborate with design teams to solve complex design challenges and offer creative solutions.

- Ensure project and sales opportunities are accurately recorded and actively managed through CRM.

Senior Team Contribution

- Act as a senior member of the New York Trade team and share knowledge and best practice with Trade Consultants.

- Support colleagues with complex customer queries and larger commercial opportunities where appropriate.

- Contribute to team meetings and discussions with insight from the New York market.

- Take ownership of agreed sales or market-development initiatives.

- Provide regular feedback and commercial insight to the Regional Trade Manager, East Coast.

This role does not have direct people-management responsibility, but does have higher target attributions

What We Are Looking For

- 3–5 years' experience within Trade, account management, sales, business development, interior design, hospitality or retail.

- Proven experience in proactively generating and converting new business.

- Strong track record of managing and developing customer relationships.

- Commercially driven with a clear understanding of sales, revenue growth and customer acquisition.

- Experience managing a sales pipeline and working towards individual financial targets.

- Strong understanding of the New York design, architecture, hospitality or retail market.

- Confident presenting to and building relationships with senior industry professionals.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Highly organised, self-sufficient and proactive.

- Strong negotiation, influencing and relationship-building skills.

- Experience using Salesforce or another CRM system.

- Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite.

- Passion for interiors and a strong interest in Soho Home's brand, products and design aesthetic.

- Results-oriented with a strong commercial mindset.

- Ability and willingness to travel across New York and attend relevant industry events.

In accordance with New York law, the salary range for this role if filled within New York is listed below. The range for the position in other geographies may vary based on market differences. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law. Pay Range $95,000 — $95,000 USD
