Summary :
This job is responsible for completing a variety of payroll related tasks to ensure that employees are paid correctly and for completing all required deposits and reports. This position must act/be able to serve as the payroll manager in the payroll manager's absence.
Responsibilities :
* Audit completed payroll to ensure the accuracy of wages, tax deductions, optional deductions, and benefit accruals; research and correct errors.
* Receive requests from employees, supervisors, or department heads in person and via telephone for clarification or explanation of payroll related issues; research and resolve questions or problems.
* Review weekly timesheets for reasonableness and to ensure proper application of policies; contact departments to resolve questions.
* Transmit bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls; format and change data as necessary to complete transmission.
* Prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax returns and any other related reports.
* Teach payroll timekeeping system classes and provide individual assistance with timekeeping system as needed.
* Create and update payroll reports; complete special projects as requested.
* Assist payroll manager with Kronos software and hardware issues. Must be able to take the lead and work with minimal supervision on all Kronos issues.
* Provide daily supervision of other Payroll employees in the absence of the Manager. Must be able to assume duties of the Payroll Manager when necessary.
How You’ll Be Successful:
WORK EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 years previous related experience required
- At least 7 years previous experience preferred
- Knowledge of automated time and attendance system is required
- Experience in a lead role in payrolls of 250+ employees or experience in a staff role in payroll of 500+ employees preferred
- Knowledge of Kronos is preferred
EDUCATION
- Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience degree or technical school training required
- Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience degree in Business Administration or similar field preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Designation as a Certified Payroll Professional preferred
