Job Description:
- Check and diagnose heavy equipment using approved circle check procedures before operating them to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order
- Advise site team of upcoming crane services
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
- Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting
- Clean, lubricate and perform other minor maintenance work
- Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and regulations
- Assist in loading and unloading of equipment
- Instruct apprentices
Requirements:
- Must possess a Journeyperson Mobile Crane Operators certification
- Must have 5 years’ experience working in a heavy civil construction environment
- Must have experience operating 100 Ton RT Grove cranes
- Experience in flying gang forms, rebar and concrete is an asset
- Knowledge of equipment safety and maintenance techniques
- Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities
- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
- Valid WHMIS, Elevated/Aerial Work Platform, Fall Arrest certificates are required
