About this role
The Sarthy Lab at Seattle Children's Research Institute (Ben Towne Center) studies cancer epigenetics, with a focus on how chemotherapies and epigenetic agents act on chromatin and transcription in pediatric cancers. We are looking for a Research Scientist to join a collaborative team working at the intersection of chromatin biology, genomics, and pediatric oncology.
Responsibilities include independently selecting and applying molecular and cell biology techniques, including mammalian cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, chromatin profiling (CUT&Tag, CUT&RUN), sequencing library preparation, and flow cytometry. The Research Scientist will contribute to experimental planning, design, execution and interpretation; keep detailed records; help prepare figures, manuscripts, presentations and grant proposals; present at lab meetings and help train and mentor junior lab members. The position also involves working with our automated CUT&Tag platform and with collaborators across SCRI, Fred Hutch and UW.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or scientific discipline; may require a Master’s Degree for certain lab specialties.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a related area/laboratory setting.

Preferred
Master's Degree or Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or a related field.
Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques; experience with chromatin profiling, CRISPR editing, or NGS library preparation is a plus.
Experience with laboratory management, including ordering, inventory, and maintaining protocols.
Comfort with basic data analysis (R, Python, or command line) is a plus.
Interest in cancer biology and translational research.
Compensation Range
$32.87 - $49.31 per hour
Salary Information
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
