POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Fuel Systems Supervisor (HMA), the Fuel Systems Lead is responsible for leading, scheduling, and overseeing base fuel operations to ensure fuel handling activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable PHI procedures. This role oversees fuel system maintenance, monitoring, quality control, and fuel receipt and distribution activities, including fueling and defueling aircraft, inspecting fueling equipment, maintaining accurate records of fuel transactions, inventory, equipment, vehicles, and fuel handlers, and supporting administrative coordination and Fuel Handler training. The position also promotes and enforces safety protocols related to fire prevention, spill control, emergency response, and compliance with PHI’s Fuel Management Manual and SMS requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead, schedule, and oversee a team of Base Fuel Handlers, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely
- Oversee fuel systems operations including its maintenance, monitoring, and quality assurance
- Maintain accurate records of the fuel systems, fuel trucks, company vehicles, and fuel handlers
- Maintain and perform quality control procedures on the fuel system to ensure quality jet fuel
- Support administrative functions and collaborate with office personnel, as necessary
- Conduct, facilitate and monitor Fuel Handler training and on the job training to new employees
- Promote and enforce safety protocols, with emphasis on fire prevention and environmental spill control
- Ensure fuel management practices comply with PHI's Fuel Management Manual and SMS system (SMS)
- Execute additional responsibilities as delegated by the Fuel Systems Supervisor
- Maintain a high level of alertness, always working responsibly and safely
- Receive bulk fuel deliveries to replenish base fuel tanks
- Fuel aircraft with the correct type and quantity of fuel according to flight requirements
- Inspect fueling equipment (trucks, hoses, nozzles) for proper function and cleanliness
- Conduct pre-fueling checks and follow strict safety protocols to prevent spills or contamination
- Monitor fuel quality and perform basic maintenance on fueling systems
- Coordinate with flight crews and ground staff to ensure timely and accurate fueling
- Maintain detailed records of fuel transactions, inventory, and equipment usage
- Respond to fuel spills or emergencies following established procedures
- Assist with defueling when necessary and ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials
- Work in all weather conditions, often on tight schedules and under physical demands
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of PHI experience preferred and demonstrated ability working in a demanding environment
- Must currently have and ability to maintain CDL and can acquire and maintain a TWIC
- Knowledge of DOT, FAA, and OSHA regulations
- Strong mechanical abilities and planning/organization skills
- Must be organized and detail oriented, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all tasks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in computer application systems
- Effective time management with a prove ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
