The Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences is a leader in patient care, research, education, and community engagement, supporting a complex and diverse portfolio of clinical, academic, research, endowment, and philanthropic programs.
We are seeking a strategic and collaborative Director of Finance to provide financial leadership and operational oversight for the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. You will partner with departmental leadership to support financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making across the department’s clinical, research, and educational missions. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead strategic financial planning, forecasting, and budget development
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to department leadership
- Oversee departmental operating, clinical, academic, gift, and endowment budgets
- Develop financial models, reports, and dashboards
- Ensure compliance with University policies and financial regulations
- Lead and mentor finance staff
Salary range: $108,900/yr - $241,500/yr
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Economics, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 8 years of progressively responsibility financial leadership experience, including staff supervision
- Expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and strategic decision support
- Experience managing complex budgets in healthcare, higher education, research, or similarly complex environments
- Strong knowledge of internal controls, financial compliance, and audit principles
- Advanced proficiency with financial systems, Microsoft Excel, and reporting and analytics tools
- Exceptional leadership, communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
- Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, or related field)
- CPA or other relevant financial certification
- Experience supporting academic medicine, faculty practice plans, or integrated health systems
- Experience within the UC system
- Knowledge of faculty compensation models, clinical funds flow, and mission-based budgeting
