Job Title: Construction Inspector Job Description
The Construction Inspector supports safe and efficient construction and environmental operations by monitoring material processing, inspecting equipment and work areas, and helping maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This role works hands-on in the field, assisting with material handling, equipment cleaning, and traffic control while contributing to a strong culture of safety and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Process materials in strict compliance with applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Monitor material flow and instrumentation to ensure optimal and safe processing conditions.
- Remove clogs, defects, or impurities from machines, conveyors, and other processing equipment using lifts, hoists, or by opening gates as appropriate.
- Learn, understand, and consistently follow all safety regulations and site-specific procedures.
- Notify supervisors promptly of any problems encountered with materials, equipment, or processing conditions.
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and maintain them over time.
- Apply and remove area-specific locks and tags according to equipment-specific lockout procedures.
- Direct traffic movement and warn of hazards using signs, flags, lanterns, and hand signals to protect workers and equipment.
- Assist production workers by cleaning work areas, equipment, and surrounding facilities to maintain a safe and orderly site.
- Perform environmental and construction-related inspection tasks using appropriate inspection equipment.
- Support environmental testing activities as directed, following established protocols and safety standards.
- Maintain strong safety compliance when working around heavy construction machinery.
- Complete other duties as assigned to support field operations and project needs.
Essential Skills
- OSHA 40 HAZWOPER certification is required.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and maintain physical fitness for field work.
- Previous experience in a construction or environmental position is strongly preferred.
- Experience working around heavy construction machinery with strong adherence to safety compliance.
- Knowledge of construction inspection practices and use of inspection equipment.
- Understanding of environmental field work and environmental testing procedures.
- Strong work ethic with a focus on reliability and consistent performance.
- Effective communication skills to interact with supervisors, coworkers, and field personnel.
- Ability to follow detailed safety and lockout/tagout procedures accurately.
- High school diploma, GED, or college degree.

Work Environment
This is an on-site field role with a standard schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., typically totaling 40 hours per week with opportunities for overtime. The work takes place in active construction and environmental field settings, involving heavy machinery, material processing equipment, and outdoor or industrial conditions. The position includes two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch during the workday. Steel-toe boots are required as part of the dress code, and other personal protective equipment is not provided. A respirator test is conducted by the client, and the respirator will be supplied for the test; candidates must be clean shaven to perform this test. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
