About The Role
As an Medical Assistant at Carbon Health, you will provide direct clinical and administrative support to patients and providers in a fast-paced outpatient setting. This hourly, full-time position is ideal for someone with at least 1 year of experience who is comfortable performing patient triage, supporting basic diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, and managing front desk responsibilities with a strong focus on customer service. You will play a key role in ensuring efficient clinic operations, accurate documentation, and a positive patient experience, while collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other care team members.
What You'll Do
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional, courteous manner and provide high-quality customer service throughout the visit
- Perform patient intake and triage, including obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical history, current medications, and chief complaints
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments within the scope of a Medical Assistant
- Perform and document routine diagnostic tests such as EKGs according to established protocols and quality standards
- Prepare examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness, appropriate supplies, and proper equipment setup before and after each patient visit
- Support front desk operations, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and collecting co-pays and required forms
- Accurately enter and update patient information in the electronic health record (EHR) system while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity
- Provide patient instructions and education as directed by providers, ensuring patients understand follow-up care and next steps
- Coordinate referrals, lab work, imaging, and other ancillary services as requested by providers
- Follow infection control, safety, and quality guidelines to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
- Assist with inventory management, including stocking and tracking medical and office supplies
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other team members to support efficient clinic workflows and a positive patient experience
- Adhere to all organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards relevant to the Medical Assistant role
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent on-the-job training
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient, clinic, or similar healthcare setting
- Demonstrated experience performing patient triage, including vital signs, histories, and documentation
- Experience performing EKGs or willingness to be trained and become proficient in EKG procedures
- Proficiency with front desk duties, including scheduling, check-in/check-out, and basic insurance verification
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, families, and staff
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Knowledge of standard medical terminology, clinical workflows, and office procedures
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a busy clinical environment with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy policies
- Ability to stand, walk, and move between exam rooms for extended periods, and to lift or position patients and equipment as required for clinical duties
