Job Title: Mechanical Estimator Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Mechanical Estimator to support our sales team in preparing accurate and timely bids. This role is critical to ensuring fast turnaround on customer requests and maintaining high standards of technical execution. The Estimator will primarily work behind the scenes but will occasionally engage directly with customers, attend trade shows, and visit job sites across the country.
Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals using Excel and other tools.
- Collaborate with sales representatives and technical staff to gather necessary input for accurate quoting.
- Ensure timely delivery of bids, often under tight deadlines.
- Maintain and update pricing databases, templates, and estimation tools.
- Review customer specifications and drawings to identify scope and requirements.
- Occasionally attend trade shows and customer job sites to support sales efforts and gather project information.
- Communicate indirectly with customers via email, phone, and through sales representatives to clarify requirements and follow up on bids.
- Track and report on bid status, win/loss rates, and turnaround times.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Estimation and Sales.
- Experience in customer service, construction, mechanical, and project management.
- Advanced skills in Excel, proposals, estimating software, and bidding.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, CAD, AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, manufacturing, and HVAC.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Manufacturing background preferred; powder coating experience would be excellent.
- Ability to read and understand AutoCAD 2D drawings.
Work Environment
This position is based onsite in a cubicle with the sales and purchasing team. The role will involve being on the floor to gain an understanding of the product and taking pictures for marketing purposes. Our expansive Vancouver facility houses multiple spray booths capable of handling projects from automotive to aerospace/defense sectors, including planes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
