Job Title: RF Field Technician Job Description This RF Field Technician role offers an exciting opportunity to support large radio frequency (RF) projects and coverage testing for emergency service communications across Northern Nevada. You will travel extensively, operate specialized test equipment, troubleshoot radio systems and low-voltage DC systems, and collect critical performance data that helps ensure reliable communication for public safety. The position combines hands-on field work with technology-focused tasks, making it ideal for candidates with RF, satcom, telecom, or military communications experience and a passion for working in dynamic, real-world environments. Responsibilities

- Support RF testing activities by monitoring system performance, collecting detailed data, and conducting regular equipment checks.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot radios, RF components, and low-voltage DC power systems in field and vehicle-based environments.
- Set up, configure, and troubleshoot remote networks and communication systems used in operational field testing.
- Operate and maintain electronic test equipment to verify system performance and document test results accurately.
- Support the operational field testing of new radio systems primarily used for law enforcement applications in regional offices and vehicles.
- Assist in the setup and monitoring of networks that support emergency communication systems.
- Drive and navigate throughout Northern Nevada, sharing driving responsibilities with a counterpart while maintaining a clean and safe driving record.
- Gather and test RF performance data approximately half of the time in the field, with the remaining time dedicated to driving between test locations.
- Collaborate with team members to identify, diagnose, and resolve RF communication issues in remote and varied environments.
- Follow established procedures and safety protocols while working with RF systems, low-voltage electronics, and test equipment.

Essential Skills

- Experience with field service or technical support in remote or off-site locations.
- Proficiency with radio systems, satellite communications (satcom), telecommunications, military communications, RF communication, or RF testing.
- Ability to troubleshoot radio systems, RF components, and low-voltage DC systems.
- Basic electronics knowledge, including understanding and working with voltage, amps, and ohms.
- Basic to advanced computer skills and experience operating electronic test equipment.
- Experience with the setup and monitoring of networks and remote communication systems.
- Capability to perform field data collection, performance monitoring, and documentation of RF test results.
- Strong driving and navigation skills with experience operating vehicles safely over long distances.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience operating or supporting P25 or other two-way radio systems, particularly in public safety or E911 environments.
- in land mobile radio (LMR) systems, including service and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with RF radio systems, including portable and mobile servicing.
- Amateur Radio (Ham Radio) experience or licensing.
- Military in radio or satellite communications.
- On- and off-road or 4x4 vehicle operation experience.
- Familiarity with two-way radio, electronics testing, and measurements involving voltage, amps, and ohms.

Work Environment This role is predominantly field-based, with extensive travel throughout Northern Nevada. You will spend approximately half of your time gathering and testing RF performance data in vehicles and remote locations, and the other half driving with a partner between test sites. The work schedule typically involves long days of about 1012 hours, six days per week, providing significant overtime opportunities. You will work closely with a counterpart in a vehicle-based environment, using electronic test equipment, radios, RF components, and networked systems to support emergency service communications. The position includes per diem for days spent in the field and requires comfort with continuous road travel, varied terrain, and a practical, field-ready dress code suitable for technical and driving activities.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
