As a Career Counselor , you will provide intensive case management, career exploration, and employment services to individuals enrolled in the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP). You'll partner with participants to identify career goals, overcome barriers, and build pathways toward meaningful employment and long-term self-sufficiency.

Working throughout the St. Cloud community, you'll help individuals discover their strengths, explore career opportunities, access training and education, and connect with employment resources. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping people achieve their goals, improve their financial stability, and create brighter futures for themselves and their families.

What You'll Do

- Conduct participant orientations, intake assessments, and employment planning activities

- Help participants identify career goals that align with their strengths, interests, and skills

- Provide career counseling, job search assistance, resume development, and interview preparation

- Assist participants in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment

- Support participants in accessing training, educational opportunities, and community resources

- Facilitate workshops on employment-related topics such as digital literacy, workplace communication, employer expectations, and resume writing

- Develop relationships with employers and identify employment opportunities for participants

- Represent Avivo at hiring events, networking opportunities, and community-based employment activities

- Maintain accurate participant records, case notes, reporting, and database documentation

- Collaborate with internal teams and community partners to support participant success and positive employment outcomes

Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Human Services, Social Services, Psychology or similar field or four years combined equivalent experience and/or training in human services or related field.

- Experience and desire to work with persons of diverse cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.

- Able to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination.

PREFERRED:

- Global Career Development Facilitator Certification preferred or ability to become certified.

- Two or more years of experience providing vocational/employment counseling, case management, vocational rehabilitation, supported work settings, community mental health, or chemical dependency services.
