Core Duties & Responsibilties
- Set up, adjust, and operate HVLP/LVLP spray equipment to apply primer and top coats
- Inspect sanded and primed parts before painting; achieve consistent color, coverage, and finish according to work instructions, SOPs, and quality standards
- Identify and correct defects—including fisheyes, orange peel, and contamination—through troubleshooting, touch-ups, and rework
- Clean and maintain spray guns, spray booth filters, and related equipment
- Track finishing supplies and update inventory counts in company systems
- Collaborate with sanding and QC teammates to resolve finishing issues; report equipment problems, shortages, and quality concerns to supervisors
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety protocols for coating handling and protective equipment
- Cross-train and support Print, QC, Assembly, and other manufacturing functions as assigned to meet daily production goals

Essential Requirements & Skills
Experience & Background
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a production painter in a production or manufacturing setting, with working knowledge of spray guns, booths, and finishing techniques
- Ability to independently set up, adjust, and maintain spray equipment and identify and correct paint finish defects, including fisheyes, orange peel, and contamination
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Woodworking finishing or automotive body repair and painting experience preferred
- Basic English skills sufficient to understand safety instructions, follow directions, and communicate essential information
Technical & Interpersonal Skills
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and meet quality standards
- Basic computer literacy for inventory updates and production records
- Clear communication, teamwork, and adaptability in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Willingness to support different tasks, take initiative, accept feedback, and develop skills
- Reliable attendance
Physical Requirements
- Repetitive, hands-on work throughout an 8+ hour shift
- Standing for extended periods
- Lifting and moving materials as needed
- Bending, reaching, and moving throughout the shift
Personal Protective Equipment (Environmental Health & Safety)
- Wear a respirator during painting and other designated activities, which may extend throughout an 8+ hour shift
- Wear eye protection and Tyvek coveralls over clothing
- Complete a company-sponsored medical evaluation for respirator use before fit testing and required use
- Complete required respirator fit testing and training
Note: Swing-shift employees receive an additional 10% differential when working the Swing Shift calculated on the base rate. This differential does not apply during Day Shift training.
