About this role
Supervises, plans, and organises the daily activities of housekeeping staff to ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment across the hospital. Ensures adherence to infection control, JCI standards, and departmental policies while facilitating smooth operations in wards, clinics, and public areas. Oversees inventories of linens, supplies, and chemicals, trains and develops staff, and ensures the effective use of resources while promoting environmentally sustainable housekeeping practices that reflect the hospital’s professional image and commitment to green initiatives.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, Facilities Management, or related field.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of six (6) years of progressive housekeeping experience, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory role, preferably in a healthcare or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of JCI standards, infection control practices, and hospital housekeeping operations.
- Knowledge of waste management codes, sustainable housekeeping methods, inventory management, and chemical safety procedures.
- Skills in staff supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
- Skills in planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to optimise productivity.
- Skills in maintaining inventory records, ordering supplies, and overseeing stock control.
- Ability to apply and enforce sustainable practices in housekeeping operations to support the hospital’s environmental initiatives.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both spoken and written, with diverse nationalities.
- Ability to lead by example, motivate staff, and foster a culture of accountability.
- Ability to perform under pressure, adapt to changes, and ensure departmental goals are met.
