Position Summary
The Payroll Coordinator assists with weekly and biweekly payroll processing and maintains employee time records.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter, maintain, and process information in the payroll system, including hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses, per diem and other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, absences, and other information
- Audit new hire information
- Gather, key, export, and audit timekeeping data
- Research time discrepancies and make corrections
- Ensure accurate processing of payroll deductions
- Assist in pulling information and entering changes for 401(k)
- Complete Verification of Employment requests and employee requests for hours toward license requirements
- Answer employee questions, escalating concerns as needed
- Assist with training on payroll systems
- Serve as backup for hourly and salary payroll processing
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects, and smooth operation of the department
Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1 to 2 years of related experience required
- Spanish speaking a plus
- Construction industry experience a plus
Skills and Expertise
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Proficient with, or able to quickly learn, payroll software
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates in a clerical office setting with regular travel to university campuses and recruiting events. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
- Requires mobility within an office environment.
- Regularly required to talk and hear. Effectively communicate with others both written and orally, including using the telephone.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- The employee may be required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and bend.
- May be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Possess good hearing, normal or corrected.
- The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- The employee may be required to climb stairs.
- Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night or weekend shifts, as needed.
