Job Description
We are looking for a Legal Claims Specialist to manage the intake, qualification, investigation, and processing of legal claims and DMCA/DSA notices. The role will ensure claims meet required evidentiary standards, are correctly classified, and are processed accurately within defined SLAs.
Key Responsibilities
Claim Admissibility & Qualification
- Claim Review: Review incoming legal claims and DMCA/DSA notices to verify completeness and required evidentiary requirements.
- Claim Rejection & Clarification: Reject incomplete, unsupported, or ungrounded claims that lack essential information, such as original asset links, clear ownership scope, or supporting evidence, and request the required information from claimants.
- Claim Classification: Accurately classify and tag claims by IP type, including Sound Recording/Master, Publishing/Composition, Trademark, Right of Publicity, Patent, and other applicable rights.
- Legal Qualification: Assess whether claims meet applicable legal, evidentiary, and platform requirements before proceeding with processing of legal claims
Investigation Support & Client Guidance
- Contextual Analysis: Analyze claim details, evidence, and relevant content to provide clients with clear and actionable context for internal rights verification.
- End-to-End Claim Processing: Manage valid claims through the complete operational workflow within established SLAs, ensuring alignment with applicable DMCA/DSA Safe Harbor frameworks.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Work with claimants, clients, and internal teams to resolve information gaps, clarify claims, and support timely resolution.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in legal claims, copyright operations, legal compliance, or rights management, preferably within music, digital media, or entertainment.
- Legal Operations Knowledge: Working knowledge of DMCA, DSA, copyright principles, and IP rights.
- Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to assess claims, evidence, and legal requirements.
- Communication: Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to draft clear and professional correspondence.
- Problem Solving: Strong critical-thinking and judgment skills with a proactive approach to resolving claim-related issues.
- Process Management: Ability to manage multiple claims efficiently while meeting defined SLAs and quality standards.
