About this role

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We're one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an individual to join the team Global Assessment Solutions Partner.

Why this role exists

Our cultural ambition is high performance with care, and assessment is where that ambition becomes real. It shapes who succeeds here and how people experience some of the most important moments of their careers.

Sitting in our Behavioural Science & Research team, you’ll lead how the bank assesses people. Your goal is to make assessment consistent, fair and evidence-based everywhere we use it. You’ll test what works, retire what doesn’t, and turn assessment data into insight that shapes workforce planning, leadership development and internal mobility.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

What you’ll be doing

- Set the standard. Assessing not just what people deliver but how they deliver it, consistently across every business and region
- Build the evidence base. Design and run validation studies, adverse impact analyses and experiments to find out which assessments predict performance, and use the findings to guide future strategy
- Bring in the best of assessment innovation. Evaluate and pilot emerging approaches, including AI-enabled, game-based and skills-based assessment, with rigour and without hype
- Turn data into decisions. Connect assessment data with performance, mobility and retention outcomes, and integrate assessment with core talent systems so that leaders get insight they can act on
- Assess with care. Make sure every assessment is fair, transparent and a positive experience for the people taking it, and define how assessment data is collected, shared and used in line with ethical, legal and professional standards
- Shape the market. Set the bar for external psychometric and assessment providers, from selection through to ongoing performance and evidence of validity
- Partner and influence globally. Advise senior stakeholders and business-aligned talent teams on complex assessment challenges, help them embed assessment into decisions well, and lead regional implementations at scale
- Build capability. Upskill colleagues in assessment science and evidence-based practice so that better decisions outlast any single project

What you’ll bring

- Deep expertise in psychometrics, occupational or organisational psychology, and assessment design
- Hands-on experience designing and analysing validation and fairness studies
- Strong quantitative skills; experience with R, Python or similar is a plus
- A track record of translating research into practical solutions that are adopted in complex, global organisations,
- Informed curiosity about emerging assessment technologies, including AI, and a clear view of their risks
- The credibility to influence senior leaders and to challenge vendors constructively
- A personal approach that reflects high performance with care: high standards, delivered with respect for the people affected
- Chartered or registered status (e.g. BPS, HCPC) is desirable
