Role
Lead global tertiary education research, insights, and engagement initiatives that strengthen partnerships and drive impact in higher education and skills development. Ensure high-quality programme delivery, foster strategic collaboration, and generate evidence-based insights that inform decision-making, support innovation, and create measurable value across global and country networks.
Role Accountabilities
- Leads smaller projects or key project workstreams, ensuring project plans, resource efficiency, and delivery of income, impact, profitability, and performance targets.
- Collaborates with country, tertiary education, and external stakeholders to agree quality, revenue, margin, volume, impact, time, and cost targets.
- Delivers and adapts team work plans in response to changing business and local contexts, ensuring global programme outputs.
- Manages the development of high-quality content with country teams and local stakeholders.
- Builds strong stakeholder relationships to understand needs and drive continuous improvement in service, programme, and product delivery.
- Leads key Research Insight and Policy Dialogue activities, supporting policy development, stakeholder engagement, and joint content delivery.
- Leads research publication, webinar development, and stakeholder engagement, promoting innovative research and delivering global programme outcomes.
- Embeds EDI across content and processes, identifies capability needs, and promotes EDI and anti-racism standards through development initiatives.
- Assesses and manages delivery risks, ensures contingency planning, investigates non-compliance, and implements corrective actions.
- Uses data, analysis, and operational insight to recommend improvements that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualification
Education
- Degree or equivalent experience
Role Specific Skills
- Understanding / knowledge of research development.
- Familiarity with statistical software and data visualisation tools.
- Applied knowledge and experience of UK and international higher education
- Demonstrates commitment to EDI and anti-racism through inclusive behaviours, decisions, and actions that support an inclusive culture, programmes, products, and services.
Role Specific Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Strong capability of working across different cultures.
- Knowledge of the UK and international HE systems.
- Managing and understanding internal and external stakeholder needs and experience of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Demonstrable experience in data collection, analysis and insightful and research report writing
- Demonstrated experience of using technology effectively in the workplace and incorporating effective digital practices into project delivery
- Proficient with leading evaluation activities within projects, including lessons learnt exercises, and implementing change based on insights to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Understands and promotes ethical conduct, and able to ensure that own behaviour and the behaviour of others is consistent with these standards and values of the British Council.
Desirable
- Association of Project Management (or equivalent) certification at practitioner level
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams and projects in line with Centre of Excellence Project Management Standards.
