About this role

Overview

The Drywall Assistant Superintendent supports the successful execution of commercial construction projects by assisting with field operations, schedule management, subcontractor coordination, quality control, and safety compliance. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.

What You'll Do

- Support the day-to-day management of commercial construction projects from startup through closeout.

- Coordinate subcontractors, field personnel, materials, equipment, and project resources.

- Assist in developing, updating, and enforcing project schedules to maintain milestone and completion dates.

- Coordinate and manage drywall operations while supporting all project trades and activities.

- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.

- Participate in preconstruction meetings, trade coordination meetings, and project planning activities.

- Monitor project quality and ensure work is performed in accordance with project specifications and company standards.

- Assist with permitting, inspections, turnover, punch list completion, and project closeout activities.

- Coordinate material deliveries and equipment utilization to support project needs.

- Support manpower planning, productivity tracking, and self-performed work activities.

- Maintain project documentation, including daily reports, two-week look-aheads, as-builts, and Procore updates.

- Build and maintain positive working relationships with subcontractors, project teams, clients, and project stakeholders.

- Assist with problem-solving and issue resolution to maintain schedule, quality, and budget objectives.

- Support field leadership in training and developing crew members.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

- Minimum of 5 years of construction management, drywall supervision, or field leadership experience.

- Experience managing commercial drywall projects and coordinating multiple trades.

- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documents.

- Strong knowledge of drywall installation methods, materials, equipment, and construction best practices.

- Experience managing subcontractors, manpower, project schedules, and field productivity.

- Strong understanding of construction safety requirements and OSHA regulations.

- OSHA 30 certification preferred.

- First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred.

- Proficiency with Procore and other construction management technology.

- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to meet physical job requirements, including walking active construction sites, climbing ladders and scaffolding, and navigating varying terrain and weather conditions.
