Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is seeking a Food Resource Center Specialist to help patients access nutritious food and community resources. This position supports the daily operations of our Food Resource Center, combining hands-on grocery and warehouse duties with compassionate patient service.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

- Performs daily operations of the Food Resource Center, including stocking grocery shelves, organizing and rotating food products, bagging groceries, checkout, and maintaining product availability for patients.

- Receives and unloads food deliveries and trucks; verifies, sorts, transports, and stocks incoming products in the Food Resource Center and warehouse areas.

- Maintains organized and properly stocked warehouse, storage, refrigeration, freezer, and grocery areas.

- Rotates inventory using appropriate food storage and expiration-date practices; identifies and removes expired, damaged, or otherwise unusable products.

- Assists patients utilizing the Food Resource Center by providing courteous service, preparing and bagging grocery selections, and supporting an efficient distribution process.

- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe Food Resource Center, warehouse, and food storage environment in accordance with applicable organizational and food safety requirements.

- May assist with monitoring inventory levels and inventory counts, product organization, and restocking needs.

- Assesses patient eligibility for Food Resource Center services and helps patients access available food insecurity resources.

- Documents patient Food Resource Center utilization, resource requests, and applicable outcomes in the Electronic Health Record and/or designated tracking systems.

- Provides basic information and referrals for community resources, including SNAP application assistance, utilities, housing, and other resources as appropriate.

- Serves as a resource to staff regarding Food Resource Center services, eligibility, available food resources, and community referrals.

- Coordinates with community organizations, tribal entities, health organizations, nonprofits, vendors, and other partners supporting Food Resource Center operations and patient resources.

- Assists with donations, community events, outreach activities, and other Food Resource Center initiatives.

- Participates in Social Services-related committees and programs, including Warm & Fuzzy and Elder Community, as assigned.

- May provide day-to-day transportation for requested appointments to OKCIC, approved monthly IHS appointments, and monthly visits to the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Ada for patients who qualify under the referral system.

- Performs other duties as assigned to support Food Resource Center and departmental operations.

Qualifications

- Must align with OKCIC vision, mission, and core values.

- At least 2 years of experience in a grocery setting, retail, food distribution, or a related environment is preferred.

- Experience working in a food pantry, grocery store, food distribution center, nonprofit, healthcare, or community service environment strongly preferred.

- Ability to provide professional and courteous service to patients from diverse backgrounds.

- Ability to organize, stock, rotate, and maintain food and grocery inventory.

- Basic computer skills and ability to accurately enter and maintain required documentation are required.

- Valid Oklahoma drivers license and acceptable driving record (no more than 2 points in the past 2 years). Must be eligible for OKCIC drivers insurance policy.

- Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, inventory rotation, and workplace safety procedures.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

- Experience assisting individuals with community resources or food assistance programs preferred. Knowledge of SNAP and other community assistance programs preferred; training provided.

- Previous experience working with Native Americans and/or unhoused populations.

- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills

- Current CPR is required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
