What you'll be doing
You'll join CIBC's US AML Transformation, Delivery, and Insights team, where we're helping transform the anti-money laundering function through newer technologies, innovation, and thoughtful problem-solving. As a Manager, AML Transformation Delivery & Insights professional, you'll focus on the development, testing, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of transaction monitoring rules using both new and existing AML technologies, including SAS Viya, SQL, Python, and Databricks. You'll support a growing team with an expanding mandate, contributing to initiatives that strengthen monitoring capabilities, improve data quality, and enhance typology coverage. In this role, you'll work independently on key deliverables, identify risks, support project execution, and help advance solutions that improve the effectiveness of the AML program. How you'll succeed
- Rule implementation and testing - Support the design, build, enhancement, and implementation of transaction monitoring rules using SAS Viya and other monitoring technologies, including SQL and Python. Perform pre- and post-implementation testing to confirm rules continue to operate as intended.
- User acceptance testing and issue resolution - Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT), system integration testing (SIT), and other test phases leading up to implementation. Identify defects, support root cause analysis for alert anomalies, and coordinate with Risk Technology partners to resolve issues.
- Analytics and optimization - Support the development, tuning, and optimization of transaction monitoring rules through data mining, statistical analysis, and query development. Identify opportunities to introduce new rules and strengthen typology coverage using quantitative and qualitative insights.
- Technology and process improvement - Support the team's ongoing transition to SAS Viya and contribute to the use of new and existing technologies, including Databricks, Python, and SQL Server. Help identify scalable solutions that support reporting, data quality, and operational updates.
- Documentation and regulatory support - Prepare documentation to support Internal Audit and Model Risk Management standards. Provide data extraction, reporting, and analytical support for regulatory examinations and document key United States anti-money laundering Transaction Detection and Intelligence processes related to models and systems.
- Project and team support - Support the execution of multiple projects and implementations by contributing to business research, scope assessment, testing coordination, and delivery activities. Provide direction and support for contractor UAT efforts and contribute to successful team outcomes.
Who you are
- You have strong anti-money laundering transaction monitoring experience. You bring 5+ years of experience supporting testing, analytics, and implementation activities within anti-money laundering, with a strong focus on transaction monitoring and related controls.
- You can demonstrate experience in SAS for anti-money laundering transaction monitoring, including recent experience with SAS Viya, as well as SQL, Python, Databricks, and related querying tools. It’s an asset if you have experience with other transaction monitoring platforms, such as Actimize, and with tuning or optimizing anti-money laundering transaction monitoring or sanctions systems.
- You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems, validating data, and using qualitative, quantitative, and statistical methods to support sound decisions, process improvements, and regulatory outcomes.
- You are a caring and accountable leader. You have experience leading projects with limited supervision and guiding a small team or contractor group to deliver against shared goals and timelines.
- You have a degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline. It’s an asset if you hold a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation.
- You know that details matter. You have strong organizational skills, can manage multiple priorities at once, and communicate technical concepts clearly to a range of audiences, including senior leaders.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $115,000 to $125,000 USD for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
