Summary:

Directs and supervises kitchen service activities. Implements established procedures and methods for kitchen service and coordinates with other hospital departments as necessary. Consults with Presbyterian Healthcare Service s food and nutrition department as needed

Responsibilities:

- Prepares work schedules, assigns personnel, evaluates work performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectivs, quality assurance program, and safety standards. Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
- Coordinates loading, delivery, and pickup of food carts on schedule.
- Directs maintenance of department facilities, equipment, supplies, and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff.
- Directs procurement of all food and supplies for the department
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.
- Attends department head meetings, pharmacy and therapeutic committee meetings, safety committee meetings, and attends and participates on committees as directed.
- Plans and implements inservice education for staff development and provides nutrition education to patients and outpatients in the community as needed.
- Selects, orients, trains, and evaluates department personnel. Maintains appropriate department records.

Qualifications:

- Associates Degree in a related Dietary Management, plus less than one year experience in dietary management.
- 3 years of additional experience can be substituted in lieu of degree 3 years of application specific experience.
