The Healthy Babies OPEI RN Coordinator provides for the day-to-day supervision of the Healthy Babies Home Visitors (nurses and community liaisons) and the Outreach Specialist under the Outreach, Prevention and Early Education (OPEI) grant. This position also performs administrative work to assist the Healthy Babies Program Manager. Participates in the planning and direction of the Healthy Babies Program, including personnel management and team meetings. Reviews complex and/or difficult office and field procedures and the development of procedural improvements. This position supports the mission of the Sedgwick County Health Department by promoting the wellness of Sedgwick County residents through the Healthy Babies Program’s focus on reducing infant mortality, low birth weight and prematurity among high risk moms. Employee will provide support during public health emergencies (Activation Level 3).

Coordinate daily Home Visitor and Outreach Specialist activities.

- Manage staff performance related to grant requirements, deliverables, and outcomes.

- Review weekly and monthly compliance reports for grant deliverables and outcomes.

- Work with the Program Manager and Senior Admin. Officer to meet program outcomes.

- Meet with Home Visitors and the Outreach Specialist regularly to review progress.

Compile monthly data reports to ensure timely, accurate submission of required documents.

- Manage Home Visitor caseloads for equitable distribution and expected caseload levels.

- Review reports and provide requested feedback to the Healthy Babies Program Manager.

- Track Home Visitor and Outreach Specialist progress toward grant requirements.

- Use data-tracking tools to monitor staff progress.

- Set clear deadlines for assigned staff tasks.

- Review electronic charts during monthly Home Visitor supervision for accuracy, completeness, and outcomes.

- Conduct quality-assurance audits of client health records and Home Visitor documentation.

Participate in, facilitate, and promote internal and external partnerships.

- Represent Healthy Babies positively and promote its mission with community partners.

- Participate in community coalitions as requested.

- Provide program objectives and participant criteria to community partners as requested.

- Promote provider participation through at least three outreach events, in addition to Healthy Babies Community Baby Showers.

- Lead and/or assist with agency quality-improvement processes.

Minimum Qualifications: Three (3) years of experience in nursing. One (1) year of supervisory experience. One (1) year experience with data management. Experience with public speaking and presentation development. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university. Current RN licensure in State of Kansas. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid Kansas driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. This is a Tier 3 position; identified as personnel who, in a public health emergency, have the potential to be deployed to the field to participate in the response, including personnel who are already assigned to a field location. Tier 3 staff are required to complete courses IS 100, 200, and 700 within 30 days of employment. Additional trainings may be required.

Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) years nursing experience. One (1) year experience in pediatrics, labor and delivery, obstetrics, or related field. At least two (2) years supervisory experience or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Experience working in a grant-funded position. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
