Provide direct in-home or at other designated locations parenting education and support to fathers and families in Sedgwick County with a focus on engaging fathers during the prenatal, postnatal and interconception period. Education and support is provided both in home and community settings to encourage paternal social, financial, and emotional support of families. This position may provide group education to county and other agencies upon request to support their parenting programs for their clients. This position also coordinates group support work for fathers and plans community engagement activities.

Home visits

- Conducts program-required screening of fathers/supporting partners to evaluate psychosocial risk factors.

- Provides referrals to external services based on screening tool results as needed.

- Provides education on prenatal/postnatal/interconceptional topics such as childcare, healthy relationships, substance use, mental health, and general male health topics.

Documentation

- Documents risk factors and client interactions in EHR within 48 hours.

- Participates in reflective supervision with Fatherhood Coordinator weekly, and with home visitors and supervisor as needed to review family progress.

- Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities through chart audits and feedback with supervisors and other staff.

- Chart in EHR or data platform as required by HSRA for program and grant-required case management reporting purposes.

Fatherhood engagement

- Conducts outreach to fathers from current Healthy Babies clients for education and involvement in the fatherhood program.

- Facilitates fatherhood/male partner support groups in the community and includes male health topics and prenatal/interconceptional education.

- Provides social support and referrals to male clients as needed.

- Participates in community outreach activities and actively serves on coalitions that are relevant to father involvement.

- Represents Healthy Babies Fatherhood Program in a professional manner by participating in health fairs, community events, coalitions, and conducting presentations for other community agencies.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree or two (2) years of college in Social Work, Health Education, or related field. Must complete Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) IS 100 and 700 courses within 30 days of employment. Additional trainings may be required. Per Sedgwick County policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid Kansas driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance.

Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years case management, home visitation, or social service experience with males, children, or families, or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Health Education, Public Health, or related field. Bilingual preferred.
