The Registrar's Office staff are committed to strong service excellence in supporting the academic and registrarial needs of current undergraduate, graduate and professional master’s students. These services include advising and administration as it relates to registration, financial need, scholarships & awards, and graduation.In addition, the Registrar’s Office is responsible for recruitment and admissions of prospective students, administration of experiential learning opportunities (international, research, in-field learning courses), scheduling of academic courses and exams and providing faculty support. The staff in the Office work collectively toward enhancing the student experience while being committed to operating under principles of equity, diversity and inclusion.

The Graduate Program Coordinator is an integral member of a team of administrative and student services professionals who work together to provide exceptional student services in the Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education. Reporting to the Assistant Registrar, Graduate Programs, the Graduate Program Coordinator provides day to day program support by answering inquiries from students regarding admission requirements, exam and defence administration, program and tuition information, and funding. The incumbent is responsible for providing support to all KPE graduate students through their programs, ensuring that all Faculty and School of Graduate Studies requirements are met. The Graduate Program Coordinator plays a supporting function for graduate awards processes and competitions, graduate student funding, student registration, petitions & appeals, programs of study, project/thesis requirements, overall degree requirements and eligibility to graduate. Working in collaboration with other members of the Registrar’s Office, the coordinator participates in recruitment initiatives as needed, to attract the best possible candidates for the program. The incumbent will participate in department and Faculty special events which enhance the graduate student experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Advising students on academic and/or financial matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background

- Assessing and selecting qualified applicants, including exceptional cases

- Providing detailed information regarding admission requirements to prospective students and applicants

- Analyzing statistical information to inform admissions projections and planning activities

- Providing detailed explanations of admissions decisions

- Promoting programs at recruitment events

Essential Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.

- Minimum of four years of experience in an academic student services environment in a university setting at the graduate studies level working with graduate students and graduate programs, including advising on academic matters, funding opportunities, university regulations, and program requirements

- Experience dealing with with a diverse multicultural pool of students and students in crisis

- Strong organizational and time-management skills

- Ability to multi-task while adhering to strict timelines

- Strong problem-solving skills; high level accuracy and attention to detail

- Excellent communication (written and oral); excellent interpersonal and advising skills

- Excellent database management skills

- Demonstrated computer skills, including advanced skills in Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Content Management.

Assets (Nonessential):

- Experience with complex funding Excel spreadsheets an asset
