Job Title: Senior Display Software Engineer Job Description
This role focuses on developing, validating, debugging, and maintaining software for advanced display systems running on Embedded Linux and Android platforms. You will collaborate closely with QA, system architects, platform developers, and hardware engineers to ensure robust display performance, reliability, and quality across multiple product releases. The position is ideal for an engineer with strong embedded software expertise and deep knowledge of display drivers, graphics frameworks, and Android display architecture.
Responsibilities
- Validate software releases to ensure display systems meet functional, performance, and reliability requirements.
- Execute and support lab testing activities for display-related features and overall system performance.
- Analyze test results, identify issues, and drive corrective actions to resolution.
- Ensure software quality through systematic verification, debugging, and continuous improvement activities.
- Perform technical triage of defects reported by QA teams, test labs, and customers.
- Conduct detailed root-cause analysis of software and system-level issues impacting display performance.
- Propose and implement temporary workarounds and permanent solutions to unblock development and validation teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex integration and platform issues related to display subsystems.
- Design, develop, debug, and maintain display-related software features on Embedded Linux and Android platforms.
- Implement enhancements to display frameworks, drivers, and system services to improve performance and stability.
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions for display subsystems.
- Support software integration activities across platform and product teams to ensure seamless display functionality.
- Work closely with system architects, hardware engineers, and software development teams to align display solutions with system requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering best practices in embedded software development.
- Support project planning, technical reviews, and software release activities related to display software.
- Contribute to and promote best practices for software development, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Use debugging and profiling tools in embedded environments to identify and resolve software issues.
- Analyze logs, traces, driver interactions, and system behavior to diagnose and optimize display-related performance.
- Identify bottlenecks in display pipelines and optimize system behavior for responsiveness and stability.
- Participate in display bring-up and validation activities, ensuring new hardware and software integrations function as intended.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 6 years of embedded software development experience.
- Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience in C and C++ development.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience working with Embedded Linux and/or Android platform development.
- Proven experience in display subsystem development, debugging, validation, and integration.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming for embedded systems.
- Extensive experience in Embedded Linux or RTOS software development.
- Experience working with Android platform development, including system-level components.
- Solid understanding of embedded software architecture and system-level debugging techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex software issues and drive them to resolution.
- Hands-on development experience with one or more Android display components such as SurfaceFlinger, Hardware Composer (HWC), Display HAL, Android system services, graphics rendering pipelines, or display bring-up and validation.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities in embedded environments.
- Experience using debugging and profiling tools to investigate and optimize embedded software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with Qualcomm SoCs in embedded or mobile environments.
- Knowledge of display protocols and interfaces such as MIPI-DSI, HDMI, DisplayPort, or eDP.
- Experience with kernel-space and user-space driver development for display or related subsystems.
- Familiarity with graphics technologies such as OpenGL ES or Vulkan.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and continuous integration systems.
- Exposure to hardware bring-up and board support package (BSP) development.
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including QA, hardware, and platform engineering.
- Strong communication skills to clearly explain technical issues, solutions, and design decisions.
- Interest in mentoring and supporting junior engineers in technical and process-related topics.

This is a Permanent position based out of Bellevue, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $190000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
