Decision Technologies seeks a qualified Information System Security Engineer to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA.

Position Description:

The Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) provides technical cybersecurity engineering expertise in support of a Government In-Service Engineering Activity (ISEA) responsible for United States Marine Corps (USMC) systems. The ISSE ensures cybersecurity requirements are properly interpreted, engineered, implemented, and validated across the system lifecycle. This role involves hands-on technical work, secure architecture design, and close coordination with system engineers, developers, administrators, and the cybersecurity team.

Responsibilities and Duties:

·         Serve as the lead cybersecurity engineer for assigned systems, ensuring alignment with DoW, DoN, and USMC cybersecurity standards.

·         Translate security requirements into technical solutions and system-level designs.

·         Engineer, implement, and validate security controls in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST SP 800-53.

·         Develop and maintain security architecture artifacts, including system diagrams, interface descriptions, and security-in-design documentation.

·         Support the integration of secure configurations, hardening guides, and baseline security settings.

·         Conduct technical reviews of system designs, software changes, and engineering modifications to ensure cybersecurity compliance.

·         Assist with vulnerability scanning, analysis, and remediation planning; guide engineering teams on fix strategies.

·         Evaluate new technologies, software updates, and system changes for cybersecurity impacts.

·         Support development of cybersecurity documentation such as SCCM baselines, implementation plans, and engineering change packages.

·         Participate in system testing events, including security-focused testing and validation.

·         Provide technical input for RMF packages, including control evidence, diagrams, and implementation details.

·         Collaborate closely with the ISSO, system administrators, and the government ISEA customer to ensure system security posture is maintained.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

·         U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (current clearance preferred).

·         Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field; equivalent hands-on experience considered.

·         DoD 8570/8140 IAT or IASAE II certification (e.g., CASP+, CSSLP, CISSP).

·         Technical experience implementing, engineering, and validating NIST SP 800-53 security controls.

·         Familiarity with ACAS, HBSS/ESS, secure configurations (STIGs), and vulnerability remediation.

·         Experience with RMF engineering tasks, especially security control implementation and assessment readiness.

·         Strong understanding of network security, system architecture, secure coding principles, and system hardening.

·         Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

·         Experience engineering cybersecurity solutions for USMC systems or other DoN platforms.

·         Experience working within or supporting a Government ISEA.

·         Proficiency with eMASS for control evidence and security engineering documentation uploads.

·         Familiarity with DON Application and Database Management System (DADMS), SNI, and DoN enterprise security tools.
