About this role

# Job Description Summary
We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer – Engineering Systems to lead and improve how engineering data, tools, and workflows operate across our organization. This role will focus on building scalable tools, automating engineering processes, and integrating data across systems such as electrical CAD, product configurators, MES, and other digital platforms. This role is critical to improving the quality, governance, and integration of engineering data across key systems, including the Zuken E3 electrical CAD (ECAD) environment.

The ideal candidate brings a strong data and automation foundation, an engineering mindset, and the ability to work across systems to improve how standard designs are applied, configured, verified, and released. This person will help reduce manual work, improve data quality, support BOM accuracy, and increase engineering throughput through automation and decision support.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Build tools and workflows that help engineers apply, configure, and verify standard designs more efficiently
- Develop scripts, automations, and data workflows to extract, clean, consolidate, and analyze data across engineering and business systems
- Partner with engineering teams to improve database structure, data quality, and reusability of electrical design content
- Integrate data and workflows across engineering and business systems, including Zuken E3 (ECAD software), product configurators, and related platforms
- Improve and maintain engineering data structures within systems such as Zuken E3 (ECAD software) to support standardized design creation, variant logic, and option selections
- Establish governance and control of the standard component library to drive consistency and reduce uncontrolled component selection and part number proliferation
- Develop and maintain component library and BOM-related data structures to support migration to newer electrical CAD software versions and standardized panel layout and 3D design capabilities
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, digital, and IT teams to develop scalable solutions that improve engineering productivity and downstream execution
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with Zuken to align on software best practices, database architecture, issue resolution, and upgrade execution
- Use data to support decision-making, identify process bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement in engineering operations

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Technology, or related technical field from an accredited university or college
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, ECAD systems, or product data management in a manufacturing environment
- Experience building tools, scripts, or workflows that improve engineering or operational processes
- Experience working with structured data, databases, and cross-system integration
- Experience with Python or similar scripting/programming languages

Desired Characteristics

- Experience with Zuken E3 or similar ECAD platforms
- Familiarity with electrical engineering workflows, schematics, component libraries, bills of materials, and engineering databases
- Familiarity with PLM systems and structured engineering data governance
- Strong understanding of engineering data governance, database architecture, and data quality improvement
- Ability to translate engineering process pain points into scalable technical solutions
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, production, digital, and external software providers
- Strong attention to detail and ability to improve data accuracy, consistency, and usability
- Prior experience with low-voltage control components, panel layouts, or wiring systems is preferred
