Position Summary
The Shipping Associate is responsible for the safe and accurate shipping, handling, storage, and documentation of finished products. This role ensures customer orders are prepared correctly, shipping requirements are met, and all company quality, safety, and food safety standards are followed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operate a forklift to load and unload trailers while preventing product damage.
- Conduct trailer inspections, report any exceptions to Quality Assurance, ensure shipping requirements are met, and document any deviations.
- Accurately complete Bills of Lading (BOL) and process shipping documentation.
- Complete all shipping paperwork and electronic records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Pick customer orders accurately and prepare them for shipment and delivery.
- Utilize shipping management systems, transaction software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Learn and effectively use shipping systems such as FAR, COPs, and other order-processing platforms to support customer service requirements.
- Complete all required training assignments.
- Follow all plant rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety procedures, and food safety requirements.
- Conduct safety inspections, maintain 5S standards, and perform general housekeeping duties.
- Operate equipment such as pallet jacks, pallet wrappers, and other warehouse equipment as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and squat for extended periods.
- Ability to work on ladders and elevated work surfaces.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to hot, cold, and wet conditions.
- Ability to work five or more days per week based on business needs.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to use electronic devices such as iPads and handheld systems.
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong willingness to learn and contribute in a team environment.
- Previous food manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience in a food production shipping or warehouse environment preferred.
- Forklift operation experience preferred.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
