ABOUT THE ROLE
Amsted Automotive is looking for a Automation Technician to support the set-up and maintenance of robotic equipment in the plant. 2nd Shift Monday- Friday 2:30pm - 11:00pm.
Work is performed in a typical manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, grease, carbon, coolants, with several elements continuously present to the extent of being objectionable. Full-time position. May require overtime, on-call, and weekend hours.
WHAT YOULL DO
- Set-up and maintain all robotic equipment in the plant. This includes machine and fixture set-up to meet process specifications, setting up all calibrated tools required to run operation, and obtaining all necessary paperwork as needed.
- Give temporary inspection approval, pending full inspection approval on set-up prior to production run using robotic equipment.
- Support production setup activities as part of a cross-functional team, contribute to the inspection and approval process, and monitor production runs to ensure machines operate within approved parameters.
- Support and provide recommendations for new robotic applications and technologies in the plant.
- Optimize current robotic applications to maximize production and quality.
- Maintain and rebuild press unloaders as needed.
- Understand Automation/CNC programs, including PLC, and be able troubleshoot problems with each.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting on all robotic machine applications: i.e. pneumatics, proximity switches, laser sensors, vision, etc.
- Assist in implementation of new processes, sampling jobs and collect data for experiments.
- Perform necessary recordkeeping and paperwork such as, but not limited to, operation checklists, spare parts inventory, and completing scheduled autonomous maintenance requirements
- Train and assist other employees as required.
- Seek help if problems arise and ask questions if you dont understand.
- Participate in team problem solving as part of the departmental continuous improvement process.
- Follow all safety rules and keep work area clean and in an orderly condition.
- Wear all personal protective equipment as required by the safety policy.
- Be responsible and accountable for the professional use of assigned work periods, machinery, equipment and tools.
- Support and participate in the departmental structure of self-directed work teams.
- Understand and perform to the BN Quality Policy taking pride in the products produced.
WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Manual dexterity, hearing, and visual acuity.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Open minded and quickly adaptable to change
- Must be able to stand/walk for up to 8 hours when necessary
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. occasionally.
