Description
Leads first-shift maintenance support for web press operations. Coordinates preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and continuous-improvement activities to maximize press availability, print quality, safety, and production performance. Provides hands-on technical support for web presses and related mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, conveying, drying, and auxiliary systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· Directs, trains, coaches, and schedules first-shift maintenance technicians supporting web press operations
· Assigns daily work, prioritizes production-related repairs, and verifies timely completion and documentation
· Provides ongoing feedback, skills development, and performance evaluations
· Supports hiring and administers corrective action in accordance with company policy
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Lead first-shift maintenance activities for web presses and associated production equipment
· Respond to equipment breakdowns, diagnose root causes, and coordinate safe, effective repairs to minimize downtime
· Develop, schedule, and verify preventive and predictive maintenance for presses, dryers, chill systems, folders, splicers, conveyors, pumps, motors, drives, and related equipment
· Partner with press operators and production leaders to resolve recurring mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and print-process issues
· Ensure lockout/tagout, machine guarding, hot-work, confined-space, and other applicable safety procedures are followed
· Maintain accurate work orders, inspection records, parts usage, downtime data, and shift handoff notes
· Monitor critical spare-parts inventory and coordinate purchases, vendor service, and outside repairs
· Support equipment installations, rebuilds, upgrades, and continuous-improvement projects
· Communicate equipment status, risks, completed work, and priorities to production and maintenance leadership
· Provide emergency maintenance support outside scheduled hours when required
Requirements
Required Skills and Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
· High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree, apprenticeship, or industrial maintenance certification preferred
· Three to five years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably supporting web offset, heatset, or commercial printing equipment
· One or more years of lead or supervisory experience preferred
· Working knowledge of mechanical power transmission, electrical controls, motors and drives, pneumatics, hydraulics, lubrication, and preventive maintenance
· Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, manuals, and equipment documentation
· Strong troubleshooting, planning, organization, leadership, and communication skills
· Ability to use computerized maintenance management systems, email, spreadsheets, and standard business software
· Availability to work first shift and adjust hours as production or emergency maintenance needs require
· Commitment to safe work practices, housekeeping, quality, and continuous improvement
· Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
Physical Requirements
· Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling and bending
· Pushing/pulling and lifting up to 50 lbs
· Requires fine motor hand and arm movement, manual dexterity and coordination
· Requires near visual acuity
· Requires working around and operating departmental equipment
· Must be able to access and navigate each department in the facility
· Requires the ability to function in a professional manner under stressful circumstances
