The Office of Legal Affairs for The Ohio State University provides legal counsel and representation to the University and all of its component parts, including the Board of Trustees, the President, Provost, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, as well as faculty and academic departments, the Office of Research, Athletics, the Office of Human Resources, among many others.

The office's scope of work is wide-ranging, touching on nearly every area of law, including litigation, labor and employment law, constitutional law, civil rights law, construction and public contracting, business transactions, and more.

The position of Legal Services Senior Coordinator is integral to this important work, and we seek an individual who is motivated and invested in becoming a part of the team and a true partner to the attorneys and other staff of the office. The position requires someone who is detail-oriented, reliable, and organized. Critical to this role is the ability to anticipate needs proactively, to follow through with projects, to coordinate and communicate effectively with others, and to prioritize job responsibilities. Must have the ability to work both independently and on teams.

The work is varied and includes administrative as well as project-oriented responsibilities. The role provides comprehensive office support for in-house counsel and includes performance of legal duties and support such as independent review of schedules and regularly required to use self-discretion to modify as needed to ensure prioritization of time sensitive matters. Support legal staff through independent comparison of new and existing documents, including but not limited to business contracts, employment agreements and confidential correspondence, to help discern authorization for approval and signature. Support legal staff through project and document management by drafting proposed completed project for attorney and/or supervisor review and use. Support office through responsible management of university resources as it relates to office supply needs and to independently discern office needs and fulfill as needed.

The position also entails more general office duties, such as greeting visitors and answering phones, screening and routing calls; responding to inquiries, including routine questions from clients; opening and routing office mail, as appropriate; establishing and maintaining physical and electronic files, including case management systems; coordinating travel and preparing travel documents in accordance with University travel policies; planning meetings and conferences; and arranging catering, equipment and rooms. May supervise student employees and provide back-up assistance to other staff members.

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED. Two (2) year of relevant experience required.

Desired Qualifications:

A 2-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; Four to six (4-6) years in an office setting, preferably a legal setting with litigation and document editing experience, as well as knowledge of legal terminology, procedures and formats; proven work ethic with the ability to work independently or on a team; must be responsible, reliable, punctual, flexible, detail-oriented, organized, able to prioritize and think independently, be proactive in the management of job responsibilities and work collaboratively in a fast paced environment; strong communications skills; excellent word processing and proof-reading skills; proficient with Microsoft Office software including Excel, Power Point and Word.

Additional Information:

The Target Hiring Range for this position is $26.78 to $34.95 per hour.
