About this role

Help shape the future of Emerging Technology at UMF

The University of Maine at Farmington is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and forward-thinking Emerging Technology Coordinator to lead our campus-wide efforts in exploring, evaluating, and thoughtfully adopting new technology, from AI to the next tools on the horizon.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys exploring what’s next, and helping others turn new technology into meaningful opportunities. You’ll serve as a central resource for emerging technologies at UMF, partnering with faculty, staff, students, and campus leaders to build digital and AI literacy, support innovative teaching and learning, and help the University navigate a rapidly changing technological landscape.

What You’ll Do:

You’ll help move UMF from “What can this technology do?” to “How can we use it thoughtfully and effectively?” Your work will include:

- Leading campus efforts to identify and evaluate emerging technologies including AI and responsible-use practices.

- Creating engaging training and related professional development on these new technologies for faculty, staff, and students.

- Working one-on-one with faculty to explore effective practices in the use of emerging technologies, including in areas such as AI-supported course design and alternative assessments.

- Partnering with the Library to strengthen AI and information literacy across campus.

- Exploring and evaluating innovative tools and projects, including chatbots, agents, rapid prototyping, and other emerging learning technologies.

Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the annual salary for this position is up to $60,000 plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents.
