SUMMARY

The Bioinformatics Analyst I supports translational oncology research through the analysis and interpretation of high-throughput omics data, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), epigenomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics datasets. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining bioinformatics workflows and databases, analyzing clinical and research data, accessing and integrating publicly available omics datasets, and collaborating with investigators, laboratory personnel, and other bioinformaticians to advance research objectives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform bioinformatics analyses of genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic, and proteomic datasets generated from clinical and translational oncology research projects.

- Process and analyze raw NGS data and convert sequencing outputs into formats compatible with commonly used bioinformatics and statistical analysis platforms.

- Develop, maintain, and optimize databases and computational workflows for the management, storage, and analysis of large-scale omics datasets.

- Access, curate, and integrate data from public repositories and databases, including genomic and multi-omics resources.

- Conduct quality control, statistical analysis, and interpretation of research data.

- Collaborate with investigators, laboratory staff, clinicians, and external collaborators on study design, data analysis strategies, and interpretation of findings.

- Prepare figures, data summaries, tables, and analytical reports for presentations, grant applications, manuscripts, and scientific publications.

- Assist in the development and implementation of computational methods and pipelines for translational cancer research.

- Provide bioinformatics support and collaborate with other bioinformaticians on complex data analysis projects.

- Stay current with advances in bioinformatics, genomics, computational biology, and cancer research methodologies.

- Perform other duties as assigned in support of research program and institutional needs.

EDUCATION

- Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biology, Computer Science, Biostatistics, or a related scientific discipline.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related research environment.

- Demonstrated experience in:

- Next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis

- Multi-omics data analysis

- Epigenetics and epigenomic data analysis

- Proteomics data analysis

- Translational and clinical oncology research

- Strong understanding of genomics, molecular biology, and cancer biology.

- Experience with NGS data processing, quality assessment, alignment, variant analysis, and downstream bioinformatics workflows.

- Proficiency in developing and managing biological databases and data integration systems.

- Experience utilizing public genomic and omics databases and repositories.

- Ability to analyze large and complex datasets and effectively communicate findings.

- Strong scientific writing skills with the ability to contribute to manuscripts, reports, abstracts, and presentations.

- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary research teams.

- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet established deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience supporting clinical, translational, cancer, or precision-medicine research.

- Experience with workflow tools, cloud or high-performance computing environments, and version control.

- Experience applying artificial intelligence or machine-learning approaches to biological or clinical datasets.

- Experience contributing analytical content to peer-reviewed publications or scientific presentations.
