Job Summary :
Underwrite new and renewal Personal and Commercial Property & Casualty business within Contract carrier’s established guidelines. Provides premium quotations, binders, assists with policy issuance and handles endorsements, premium audits and claims. Works with multiple carriers and coverage lines, brokering business (as needed) under the guidance of the senior underwriter for those accounts that do not qualify for the Contract markets. Makes marketing calls and establishes strong relationships with Agency retailers and assists and provides them with presentations and training to help them to achieve production objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Use discretion and judgement in reviewing, rating, underwriting and submitting new and renewal business through various Contract and Broker markets.
- Prepares premium quotations and provides proposals and binders, within authority, for new and renewal business in a timely manner.
- Assists with policy issuance, invoicing, collections, premium audits and claims when required.
- Provides recommendations and feedback to management towards the establishment and accountability of service standards, as well as on various operational matters.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with carriers and markets.
- Assists in the training and development of newly hired staff, as needed. Available as a subject matter expert to provide technical support and guidance to staff.
- Travels to Neighbor Islands and Mainland U.S., as required.
- Assists management and team members with the development and execution of sales and marketing plans, including the monitoring and measurement of agency production goals.

Marginal Duties:

Qualifications :
Education and/or Experience: .
- Minimum 2 to 3 years underwriting and/or brokering experience required.
- Excess & Surplus underwriting and/or brokering experience preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education, technical and sales background experience will be considered.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Hawaii Resident Producer and Surplus Lines Broker Licenses required or willingness to obtain licenses within a specified timeframe.
- IIA, CIC/CRM, CPCU or other designations preferred.
- Valid Hawaii Driver’s license and use of own vehicle required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read, interpret, analyze and compare insurance policy forms/endorsements, product offerings and quote proposals.
- Excellent business writing skills with the ability to write formal customer correspondence and routine reports as needed.
- Ability to speak, communicate and negotiate effectively with customers, markets and employees.
- Must possess a positive attitude, rationality and tactfulness.
- Ability to handle detailed and time-sensitive work in an organized manner; adhering to established service standards.
- Flexible and adaptable to changes.
- Sales and service-oriented and professional.
- Must possess excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple situations with clients, customers, co-workers and the general public in a professional manner.
- Ability to successfully meet/exceed established service standards.
· Proficient in PC navigation and Windows based software application skills.
· Previous experience or knowledge in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
· Previous experience or knowledge of agency management and imaging systems, especially AIM and ImageRight desirable.
· Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in the following:

The applicable base salary range for this role is $53,300 to $99,300.
###
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
