## Job Purpose
The Manager, Media & CRM Department Head leads enterprise media and customer communications strategy for Honda and Acura Automobile Marketing. This role connects paid media, CRM, email marketing, personalization, customer data, analytics, and emerging technology into an integrated marketing capability that builds brand strength, supports vehicle sales, and improves customer engagement across the shopping and ownership journey. This position directs national and regional media for Honda, Acura, and Certified Pre-Owned activity across general market and multicultural audiences while providing enterprise leadership for Email and Enterprise Customer Communications Management (ECCM). The role establishes strategy, governance, investment priorities, agency direction, measurement standards, and transformation roadmaps across media and CRM channels. The department head also stewards one of AHM's largest marketing investment portfolios, leads major agency and supplier relationships, develops associates and managers, and translates complex business, customer, technology, and performance information into clear recommendations for senior executives.
## Key Accountabilities
Enterprise Media Strategy
- Lead development of Honda and Acura national, regional, CPO, general market, and multicultural media objectives, strategies, investment plans, and activation priorities.
- Integrate brand, launch, foundational, retail, performance, and countermeasure activity.
- Provide executive recommendations and direct agencies on go-to-market approach.
CRM, Email, Personalization & CDP
- Set enterprise Auto email and ECCM strategy across sales, nurture, ownership, transactional, research, and enterprise communications.
- Establish channel governance, campaign prioritization, audience strategy, customer journey orchestration, testing, deliverability, consent, and preference-management requirements.
Collaborate on the integration of CRM, email, paid media, personalization, SFMC, CDP/1C1H, and related data and MarTech capabilities.
Investment, Budget & Financial Stewardship
- Lead annual and multi-year planning, allocation, forecasting, reconciliation, and governance for Media, ECCM, analytics, technology, agency, and supplier investments.
- Balance brand-building and near-term sales priorities.
- Identify efficiencies, funding needs, and tradeoffs.
- Ensure investments are managed within approved budgets and controls.
Agency & Supplier Management
- Direct media, CRM, analytics, data, technology, and specialty agency relationships.
- Define scopes of work, staffing models, deliverables, service levels, fees, and performance expectations.
- Lead senior partner reviews, contract and renewal recommendations, issue resolution, and cross-agency operating alignment.
Performance, Analytics & Optimization
- Establish KPI and measurement frameworks across media and email, including channel engagement, traffic, leads, sales contribution, customer journey outcomes, marketing mix, and attribution.
- Use research, dashboards, experimentation, audience insights, and econometric analysis to improve investment allocation, campaign effectiveness, and customer experience.
Digital Innovation & AI Adoption
- Set the innovation roadmap for the department.
- Evaluate and scale practical uses of AI, automation, dynamic creative, advanced analytics, audience development and insights, clean rooms, customer journey orchestration, and emerging channels.
- Ensure innovation is grounded in business value, responsible data use, operational readiness, and measurable outcomes.
People Leadership & Organizational Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team of unit leads/managers and associates across Media and ECCM.- Set priorities, clarify roles and decision rights, manage performance and capacity, and build succession and development plans.
- Support engagement and evolve the organization and operating model as business needs change.
Executive Planning, Reporting & Communication
- Represent the Media & CRM department in executive, cross-functional, agency, supplier, and industry forums.
- Develop and present business plans, investment recommendations, performance reviews, risk assessments, and transformation updates.
- Serve as an AHM spokesperson for media-related topics when requested.
## Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Business, Analytics, or a related field.
Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum Experience
20+ years of work experience, including 10-15+ years of experience in marketing and advertising.
10+ years of automobile manufacturing experience preferred.
Current knowledge of the media landscape.
Experience with traditional media, including linear television, terrestrial radio, out-of-home, and print.
Experience with advanced television, including streaming, addressable TV, data-driven TV, online video, OTT, and AVOD.
Experience with digital media, including programmatic, DSPs, mobile, podcasts, search, and paid social media.
Experience with CRM and email marketing initiatives and customer journey orchestration.
Experience working with an agency as the direct client.
Ability to interface with all levels of management and senior executives.
Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, and presentation skills.
Experience managing multiple projects, suppliers, schedules, and budgets.
Prior vendor management experience preferred.
Ability to organize resources and deliver results on time and within budget.
Required Functional Experience
Deep knowledge of traditional, advanced television, streaming/video, digital, programmatic, search, paid social, audio, out-of-home, sponsorship, and emerging media.
Experience leading CRM and email strategy, campaign operations, lifecycle or journey marketing, audience segmentation, testing, personalization, deliverability, consent, preference management, and measurement.
Working knowledge of customer data platforms, Salesforce Marketing Cloud or comparable marketing automation platforms, data integration, clean rooms, identity, analytics, and privacy-by-design practices.
Experience with advanced analytics, including marketing mix modeling, attribution, incrementality, dashboards, sales matchback, research, and performance optimization.
Experience developing and managing agency scopes, contracts, staffing, budgets, and supplier performance.
