Employee Relations Specialist
This is 100% in office role working in our St Louis, Missouri office location.
The Employee Relations (ER) Specialist provides consultation and recommendations to Auto Club leadership in support of the organization's strategic goals and core values. Consults on all matters involving the employee/employer relationship and provides subject matter expertise on interpretation and application of company policies and procedures. Uses critical analysis, judgment, and influence to support decisions that are in alignment with the Auto Club's core values. Works independently with general supervision in a broad range of duties to promote and maintain positive working relationships between employees and management while minimizing legal risk. This is the intermediate level position within the Employee Relations function adheres to strict confidentiality requirements.
Job Duties
- The Employee Relations Specialist provides consultation and recommendations to organizational leaders on a variety of employee relations matters, including performance management, workplace conflict resolution, best employee relations practices, legal compliance, and interpretation and application of company policies and procedures. Uses critical analysis, judgment, and influence to support decisions that are in alignment with the Auto Club’s core values. Provides guidance and support to employees regarding the interpretation of employment policies and practices, and workplace conflict resolution. Provides subject matter expertise on policies, employment law, and the investigation process. Develops strong relationships with business units and partners frequently with the Office of the General Counsel.
- Investigates and resolves workplace issues as well as provides support to managers and employees on moderately/highly complex issues such as discrimination, harassment and workplace violence as well as performance management. Deals with highly sensitive investigations, working with internal investigators. Documents all employee relations activities per established protocols. May be called as a subject matter expert in various judicial proceedings.
- Provides consultation to leaders on operational strategies to proactively maintain employee retention. Contributes to the completion of strategic HR initiatives/projects, including conducting employee exit interviews. Monitors changes and trends in human resources and proposes strategies to address the impact of these trends.
- Facilitates management training both in person and virtually to all markets.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Equivalent combination of education and experience
- 4-6 years Human resource or related business experience. Required
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a sense of urgency. (High proficiency)
- Must be able to handle confidential matters with discretion. (High proficiency)
- Willingness to learn and grow in the HR field. (Medium proficiency)
- Professional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate data, trends, policies and procedures to all levels of staff and management. (Medium proficiency)
- Proficiency with data entry. Analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. (Medium proficiency)
- Knowledge of federal and state legislation regarding human resources practices. (Medium proficiency)
- Knowledge of human resource management programs and practices. (Medium proficiency)
- Strong communication skills, both orally and written. Demonstrated ability in critical analysis, judgment, and persuasion. Strong conflict resolution skills.
- Strong knowledge of pertinent labor/employment laws as well as human resource management principles, practices.
- Experience advising management and delivering business-based solutions to organizational leadership.
- Professional Human Resources - Human Resource Certification Institute Preferred
