About this role
We are seeking a Test Engineer to support the Navy's Network Design Facility (NDF), with a primary focus on the Link 16 network design side of the organization. This position will assist with the development, configuration, and review of Link 16 networks using NDF-proprietary network design and analysis tools.
The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, as network design requires accuracy and careful review of network parameters and configuration data. Strong verbal communication skills are also essential, as the engineer will work closely with NDF team members, engineers, and customers to understand network requirements, communicate technical information, and support the development of operational Link 16 network designs.
Previous Link 16 or tactical data link experience is beneficial but not necessarily required. A technically capable candidate who is detail-oriented, communicates effectively, and is willing to learn the NDF tools and Link 16 network design process can be successful in this role.
CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES
Ability to perform the following, under close supervision:
Assist in the set-up, operation, and tear down of the test architecture of various systems and sub-systems.
Assist in the execution of test procedures, analysis of test results, and generate final test documentation.
Support the troubleshooting of test issues and apply standard troubleshooting techniques to identify the issue with systems, support systems or interfaces. Provide operational support for trouble report resolution activities to include system problem isolation/detection and resolution.
Support in the capture and collection of test data of each system and support system.
Support in the development of test cases, test procedures and test scripts, as required by the project/program.
Provide required periodic input for status report and/or Trouble Report Retest Status (TRRS) to the project lead. Submits all required input on time and with accuracy.
Assist with identification, troubleshooting, and resolution of system issues (bugs/TRs), as needed.
Assist with data collection, preliminary data analysis, data removal, data transfer, provide any data analysis information for Test Observation Reports (TORs), and reach back support, as needed.
Participate in project-oriented meetings for the management, progression, and or closure of support activities.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Foundational knowledge of the following:
Common terminology within the scope of the program. This includes accurately utilizing terminology while communicating verbally or written.
Test Tracking, Evaluation Methodologies and Procedures
Technical Writing
Troubleshooting
Standard computer-based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point)
Link-16 or Tactical Data Link experience preferred

BS STEM Degree Required

PAY RANGE
$80,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually, DOE

SECURITY CLEARANCE
Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
