Lab Assistant (Bilingual Spanish/English Required) Location: Santa Barbara, CA Department: Laboratory Services About the Opportunity We are seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) Lab Assistant who is passionate about patient care and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate has a current Phlebotomy Certificate, strong communication skills, and experience in a healthcare setting. Position Summary The Lab Assistant supports laboratory operations by performing phlebotomy, specimen collection, processing, and patient intake activities while ensuring a positive patient experience and maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality. Schedule Full-time. On site, 5 days a week Monday-Friday. Must be avalaible for 8 hour shifts from 8am - 6:30 pm. Key Responsibilities

- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures.
- Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens for testing.
- Ensure proper specimen handling, storage, and transport.
- Verify patient information and maintain accurate documentation.
- Communicate with patients in both English and Spanish.
- Provide exceptional customer service and create a welcoming patient experience.
- Maintain laboratory supplies and assist with inventory management.
- Follow established safety, infection control, and laboratory protocols.
- Collaborate with providers, laboratory staff, and clinical teams to support patient care.

Qualifications Required:

- Current California Phlebotomy License.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.

Preferred:

- Previous phlebotomy or laboratory experience.
- Experience in a clinic, medical office, community health center, or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR).
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Barbara, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
