About this role

Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday with flexibility to support and attend events with early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements: Applicants are required to submit to a drug test as part of the hiring process. Personal access to reliable transportation for travel within the surrounding areas of San Antonio and Bexar County is required.

General Summary: This position plays an important role in supporting the Mobile Market Program which addresses hunger and nutrition in underserved communities. The Mobile Market program identifies where there are gaps in service in the emergency food network and provides neighbors with healthy food options across our 29-county service territory.  This is a Tuesday to Saturday position.

Impact:

Program Development & Scheduling

- Lead the development and on-gong execution of all mobile market activities to increase access and participation.

- Participate in designing and planning the monthly schedule for the Mobile Market Program.

Partnership & Event Management

- Manage an assigned portfolio of mobile market program partnerships throughout the service territory, including onboarding, training, auditing, and meeting assigned goals.

- Oversee and coordinate mobile market distributions, including event planning, site oversight, and distribution audits.

- Work with various organizations and non-profits to schedule efficient distribution events, managing components like registration, volunteers, traffic control, and food safety.

- Partner with warehouse, inventory, and transportation teams to ensure proper preparation and execution of all mobile market events.

Compliance & Data Tracking

- Monitor and ensure appropriate guidelines are followed in the implementation of the markets.

- Gather all relevant data in adherence to Feeding America, USDA, TDA, and other required regulatory guidelines.

- Monitor market compliance regarding neighbor intake, food allocation, food safety, and customer service.

- Track event registration, record distributed poundage, and conduct post-event analysis to measure program effectiveness.

Community Relations & Support

- Address neighbor and community concerns related to mobile distributions, including handling grievances and troubleshooting issues.

- Assist all participants at mobile market events by providing clear directions and active support.

- Apply approved pricing and discount guidelines and complete cost estimates before proposals are finalized.

Required Job Qualifications:

Education & Experience

- High school degree or equivalent.

- Bi-lingual in English/Spanish.

- Two years of direct customer service, client-facing non-profit work, community outreach, event planning and execution, or related work.

Certifications & Licenses

- Current Texas driver’s license, liability insurance, and a clean driving record.

- Ability to successfully complete pallet jack and ride-on electric pallet jack training internally.

Skills & Competencies

- Strong ability to multi-task, manage time efficiently, and work independently with minimal supervision under strict deadlines.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills paired with a highly professional demeanor.

- Exceptional customer service skills, sound judgement, and discretion with handling community grievances or unexpected event logistics.

- A deep, visible commitment to fighting hunger and feeding hope, keeping the dignity of the clients as the central focal point.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

- Excellent ability to keep digital files, paper records, and daily schedules orderly. Comfortably manages multiple projects at the same time.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

- Experience working in a non-profit, social-enterprise, high-volume, or multi-event catering operation.

- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree with coursework in social work, human services, sociology, public health, supply chain, logistics, operations, hospitality, event management, public administration, non-profit management, business administration, or communications.

- Previous experience in event planning, volunteer coordination, or large-scale logistics.

- Prior experience working with food banks, Feeding America networks, or emergency relief systems.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move continuously for extended periods during event preparation, set up, service, and breakdown. Must lift, push, pull, and carry event equipment, boxes, crates, and pallets of food and supplies up to 40-50 pounds.
Frequently bends, stoops, reaches, kneels, and twists to set up tables, signage, tents, and distribution lines.

Near visual acuity to read registration screens and data sheets; sharp and speech clarity to communicate in loud, busy outdoor environments.

Fine and gross motor skills required for typing, operating mobile intake tablets, and handling food packaging.

Work Environment

This job is primarily performed in an outdoor environment and will require the ability to work outside in extreme and inclement weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain.

You will be required to drive to different locations requiring one to sit in a vehicle for extended periods of time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
